I only normally tool hills but for this ride I wanted to recreate those hills exactly. It would be a little hard to do with a tool because the radius is a little strange at the top. Wing Over is as close as Ive seen but his still arent sharp enough over the top.
This ride was hand built but smoothed with the smoother. So in essense you could say its tooled but really its all hand built. I went through 100 saves on my computer and countless other saves as I tweaked and retweaked every portion.
I do use the AHG but not until I know the track can handle it. I went with segments on this of 6ft which is really small.
I use the AHG because its impossible to recreate the type of heartlines you need for some elements and shapes by hand. You need too small of segments in order to do some elements. Especially for coasters with inversions but even for this I have a few turns which wouldnt have been possible to heartline by hand AND still keep the realistic feel to it.
I dont feel the Smoother or AHG are really "tooling" it since both require a decent input for an even greater output. However, I do have a system devised where I move pretty quickly and it all works out in the end.
At heart, almost all of my rides are 90-95% Hand built.
