Yesterday I decided to start a recreation of Tower of Terror at Gold Reef City in South Africa. If you havn't heard of it, it's a vertical drop coaster that pulls 6.3 g's on the pullout. Here's the rcdb link: http://www.rcdb.com/id1481.htm .
Anyway, I have a question for anyone who has done 3ds for awhile. Do you think it would it be easier to make the tower out of 3ds or supports? For now I'm just going to start making the ground in OC but when I get to the tower, I want to do it in the easiest way possible. Here's what I have so far, and if anyone sees anything wrong with it, help me out a little, I couldn't find too many pictures of the end of the ride.

I think 3ds for supports. Why? Copy and paste.

Right now Im doing footers and connectors in 3ds and I can blaze through them because of copy and paste. Anything repetative, if you can, do in 3ds but make sure to save polygons! Ive seen the pictures for this ride and the tower is pretty complex.

Thanks Real, and I'm glad you guys like it so far. Rollergod, do you think you could find a link to that recreation? I'm far enough in this one that I'm going to finish it but it might be nice to be able to see what someone else made, maybe I can improve on it for mine.

^Actually, I think you meant this:

It has been done but all with supports. It was well done as well so you have your work cut out. It did used to be called the Shaft of Terror but the name was changed.

Is it just me or does the turn in the 2nd picture look a little messed?

I was in South Africa twice in the last 4 years and every time I tried to go to that park, both major coasters were closed.[V]

Some of the locals I spoke with said TOT is incredibly rough and not even worth riding. I have always been intriged by that funky banking on the drop. I look forward to your recreation as that may be as close as I get to the real thing.[dunno]

^I think it got retrofitted with OTSR's and that probably makes it painful now. I read that when they built it the tracking guage was off in the tunnel and the car came to a screeching halt at the bottom on the test run.[lol]
Nice to see a recreation of it, it all seems on track.

^Here's an update with a few more pics of the tower and tunnel entrance. Also it actually doesn't have OTSRs, I'm pretty sure it is more of a seatbelt that straps over both shoulders, combined with an Intamin hyper type lab bar.

the wheels on the top of the tower look a bit odd with your star shape type spokes, i'd recommend changing them if your going for a relistic look.

^I've added a couple more pictures now that I'm done with the 3ds, (minus the tower). I'm looking for a few people to test before I do the do the final version of the tower in 3ds, so if you want to, give your e-mail adress and I'll send you the track.

That tunnel looks like it is going to chop off a few arms. May want to check that..

Seriously, I thought you'd learn your lesson by now. It had been a month since I replied at the top of this page, and then you just ask for a test. He's probaly not looking for testers anymore. Plus, you just don't beg for people to allow you to test. If you haven't recieved the track, they probaly don't want you to. It just gets really annoying when you do this over and over again.
