Im pretty sure the people with the more advanced logos, such as Wing Over's Barracuda, use photoshop.

YOu can use photoshop to make logos, but generally speaking, the professionals use programs like Adobe Illustrator. 100x easier to make a logo in it then what it is to make a logo in Photoshop.

^But Illustrator is for PRINT. Plus, majority of the tools you need to do that stuff is in Photoshop except PS is for Web with some print.

Illustrator = Vector Art
Photoshop = Raster Art

You could do it in AI but you could do the same thing in PS and youll have to shrink it down anyways.

yea I never really understood how to use AI, it was too complex and tricky to just start using which I think is what Blader is tryin to do. Yea matt, Gimp is a good free tool to use if you're looking for ease of use.

AI is easy to use once you understand the system. Its really exactly like NL. It uses the math based Beziers to plot points and create lines.

Because all these lines are made using math, the lines can be resized to any size and retain not just shape - but more importantly - sharpness. This is why its mainly used in print making. If you create something in Photoshop and dont make the first copy the largest, when you resize it will pixelate. Thats the Raster I was talking about. Vector doesnt do that.

But, both programs, unless you got copies from school or work, will run you around 700 a peice. So you shouldnt worry about it.

When I started my website, I got a shitload of software one of which was a photo editor; Ulead PhotoImpact XL SE. We use photoshop's student edition at our school and PhotoImpact, so far, has so much more control over what you do. Not to mention how much easier it is to use.

I've gotten used to using Photoshop Elements 2.0 after playing around with it for a while. I've learned tricks and stuff, I never use MS Paint anymore.

I use whatever for text (like anim8or or simply a shot from the 3D text screensaver) and edit it in paint and photoshop.
