THE RULES:

Your challenge is to build a multi-looping Intamin rocket coaster on a small sloped land area, with as much speed and originality as possible. Inspired by the coaster 'SpeedMonster', this round will be a tough test of originality. Your coaster will be rated as follows: 10 points for technical aspects including shaping, operations, e-stop, and collisions. 10 points for adrenaline aspects such as pacing, sensation of speed, and 'wow' factor. 10 points can be awarded for originality parts, such as sequencing, original elements, use of template, and layout. Up to 3 points can be awarded for your original element. it will be judged on originality and thrill factor. All scores will be totalled, and divided into 33 to give a compiled average. The best coaster from each group will move on to Round 3.

  • Track Style must be '2-seat Hyper Coaster'
  • ALL track must remain COMPLETELY within the given boundaries
  • The coaster must contain at least 2 inversions. An inversions is defined as a piece of track with banking of over 150 degrees.
  • The coaster must contain at least one original element (something that has never been seen, and can set your coaster apart from any other rocket.)
  • Only one launch can be used. It must be a launch... no lifts are allowed.
  • The coaster's speed must be OVER 30 MPH (48 kph) AT ALL TIMES, between the end of the launch and the brakes.
  • The ride must have a capacity of at least 1000 riders per hour. You may use any train configuration to achieve this number.
  • Terrain can be modified, but the hillside must retain its basic shape.
  • The station's track must be contained within the area marked with an "X" (just the track this time... the building can go out.)
  • G Forces should be kept under 5.2 vertical, 1.5 lateral, and -1.5 airtime (no disqualifications for this, but points will be taken off)
  • Extra points are available for scenery, good supports, good use of the terrain, and especially for inventive, adrenaline-filled track layouts.
  • All tracks must be submitted by 11:59:59pm EST Saturday, April 1st
  • Send finished tracks to cjd@muskingum.edu or post them on the exchange with a "(Round 2)" tag, and please post a link in this topic.
  • Once a design is posted on the exchange, it is accepted as your final design. If you send a track through e-mail, you may re-submit as often as you like.

Have Fun, and Good Luck!

Also can't go under 30 mph on a tophat type element I assume? I'm guessing all real rockets do with Storm Runner and Xcelerator being borderline...

OMG, I'm so dead... but I will try, who knows... I could end up on top. *just got jinxed*

What happens if two people... just by chance, have the same original element?

Oh... Supports can go out of bounds right?

Can we have underground tunnels? Replace the terrain with a 3ds version?

Man, I hope I can finish. Right now I'm fighting a pretty serious illness, and it's hard to build coasters when you can't think straight.

Awwwww, crap. I didn't make it. Even worse, I can't even download the template, I get this STUPID error saying my computer name, where I saved the template, and "Invalid Menu Handle."

Wow. Great challenge, CJD. I'll see what I can do.

EDIT: Actually, I don't see any height limit posted in the briefing above. Am I correct in my assumption that that means there is not one?

Nope. 'Element' does not necessarily mean inversion. If you can make a good non-inverted original element, go for it.

"Terrain Can be modified in any way as long as the hillside retains its basic shape"

Yes, and yes.

When you say above 30 MPH, we assume that's between the launch and the final brake run?

"The coaster's speed must be OVER 30 MPH (48 kph) AT ALL TIMES, between the end of the launch and the brakes."

Hope that helps.

^ I didn't see the end part, sorry.

Well i'm not sure if im supposed to say anything, lol, but i've already finished the track, now the hard annoying part, smoothing. I'm pretty happy with the layout, it's very...uhhh...twisty?

Supports as well? I've seen support inclusive boundaries before. I'm assuming they do not have to be inside here, because that is normal contest procedure, but I'm just checking.

^Yep, supports can go anywhere.

If I don't say it in the rules, it's legal.
