Here is a testing video with the train fully loaded with water dummies;

The speed difference is pretty evident.

It still looks alittle slow to me. I was at Busch Gardens yesterday and when you drive in to pay for parking and stuff apollo is right there and it looks like it goes alot faster over the hills then goliath

Yea, see it doesnt go that much faster.

See, when you add weight while youll add a little speed (its not that much) and momentum (the bigger role) you also make it heavier for going up and down the hills.

From my experience with full and empty trains (steel and wood with several instances) the steel never had as much fluctuation as the wood. Steel, because of the nature of the wheel assemblies ride much more consistantly and depend less on weight than wood.

I know on TTD it matters. When I rode it they had the back two rows shut down because it was not making it up the hill with a full train that day.

Wow, I thought the speed was ten times better. Thanks for the link Chris.

The momentum was better. I saw no difference till it ran up the helix and then you could tell it was holding it speed better. The first half was nearly identical though. Coming in it carried a bit more momentum but knowing the nature of the ride its probably not going go from "ok" to "OMG" it either will be or will not be (in both cases) an "OMG" ride.

Which I think it will. It suprises me because the airtime looks so plentiful. Coming from B&M its a little hard to believe since it almost seems to be one of their most intense Hypers.

THe from the horseshoe on to the back to back camal hills look to be the best part to me! The helix also looks like it will be fun. This will probably be B&M's best work... for thier hypers anyways.

Does anybody know the angle of Goliath's first drop? I'm guessing between 65 and 70 degrees, but I'm not 100% sure.

Goliath had its first regular operating day for the public yesterday (April 1st) and the first impressions of the ride are incredible. Many people are saying that this is one of the best B&M hypers ever built.

An indepth review of Goliath can be found by clicking here.
The train crested the lift and plunged 170 feet down towards the earth at nearly 70 MPH. Before you can catch your breath you assault the second hill. As you reach the apex of the second hill it is then that you head down the curving drop of 175 feet at 70 MPH and to the outside of the park you go.

The ride is awesome. The airtime is great, if you relax then you just float. Train 2 is faster than train one, though a little shaky at the bottom of hill one and two, but nothing bad. The ride is even better at night, I was getting pure ejector air IN THE FRONT. The line moves extremely fast. This was a great move for SFOG.

Goliath was one of the most amazing rides that I have been on in a long time. I think the longest I acutally waited in line for the ride was five minutes. Maybe that was because I had one of those Q bot things and it allows you to skip the two and a half hour wait. I rode in the 1,2,4,8,9 rows on Tuesday (april 4th). My favorite part in when you are in the last row when you go over the first hill. I also like the bunny hops.
