^ I wouldn't say good looking water... But its definately an improvement although not completely realistic looking. I'm hoping this isn't the final look of the water and that they will tweak it more, but its a pleasent surprise none the less. Because as you can see in my last post above, I wasn't expecting it till NL2.
^Its not realistic? What kind of water do you live by...water that never sees any wind and sits perfectly still?
Of course it wont look photorealistic...its real time. It looks just as good as any other water Ive seen especially that in Half-Life 2 which was outstanding.
Great ... the water requires a DX 8.1 card ... I'm on a mac that doesn't support DX ... goodbye NL. I hope Ole can find a way to enable this in OpenGL for mac users, it is possible, I just hope he does. Nevertheless, exciting to see pics of progress every week or so.
I think the water looks amazing. Too bad I most likely won't be able to use it considering I have some random integrated graphics card on my laptop...not complaining, I won it in an art contest so I'm happy lol.

Your going to throw away NL just because you'll have to stare at the crappy water?[:O]
Ride's I'm most excited to see with new water effect.....
Thunderhead Falls - Phyter
Rebel - Real (assuming they fixed that problem that caused the water to disappear)
Hmm, I guess the water does look like HL2's water, I just didn't realize it because there was not motion, but when I took a screenshot of HL2 and compared it to NL, then I could see they were basically the same. Alhtough there still needs to be some tweeking, like if instead of having the water just be flat like it is, and have some actual depth like in HL2, then the whole problem I was seeing would probably be gone.
