Here are my unofficial rankings of the round 2 coasters. This was just for fun...Scores are using the typical 3 x 10 point scales, plus a possible 3 points for the unique element, same rules as used by CJD. Contest rules were not checked. Rides were scored in reverse order of posting on WWS. Rides not posted were not scored.

If you e-mailed your track and want me to score please either post it, e-mail it to tylere@gmail.com, or post a download link in the thread.

Wyvren - Jimmy Yoshi

Tech: 7.5 Pretty good technically overall. Some of the banking wasn't quite as fluid as it could be, and the first element was just a real mess. That's where you lost most of your points. That element was just jackhammeringly brutal.

Adreneline: 7.0 The beginning was exciting, and the ending was good, the middle was a bit of a dud. Layout was a bit predictable, and it rode more like a launched looper than a rocket. If you'd replaced the double heartline rolls with some hills this would have been a bit higher.

Originality: 7.5 Decent layout, but nothing more. Support work, etc, was, again, pretty decent. That's sort of my overall impression of the ride... Decent. Not great, not bad, but not really impressive either. Solid, but just leaves me kinda bored.

Element: 0.5 Not very original, and it frankly just rides like crap.

Overall: 7.12

Digtalus - screamomatic

Tech: 6 Some pretty consistent and obvious pumping here. Nothing too horrible, but smoothness wise it's just not quite there, espeically compared to the tooled rides.

Adreneline: 4.5 There's just not a whole lot here. It actually rides fairly well, but it's severly lacking airtime, and it just doesn't do all that much. YOu've got about 6 or 7 elements here total. Very little interaction between different parts of the track. Feels like it ends too quickly. If you'd added on about 3 airtime hills and a tight turn before the brakes this would have been a much better ride.

Originality: 8 You actually got the Intamin feel down pretty well. Despire what the other two scores might be, I actually liked this ride quite a bit. It does what it does fairly well. Probably one of the more buildable rides of the contest. It's just rather conservative.

Element: 1 - Meh, it's a Stengel Dive. It works reasonable well, but hardly unique.

Overall: 5.90

Madison Goldrusher - trainsix

Tech: 4 Pretty in spots, and you also lose big points for all the supports that would snap like toothpicks.

Adreneline: 8.5 Very nice. Keeps a good pace throughout with a nice mix of elements. Ending is a bit weak, but overall the whole package works quite nicely.

Originality: 9 I liked your layout a lot. Kinda reminded of some of the Arrow "super" minetrains like Excalibur and Thunderation. Didn't get bogged down in the usual Intamin cliches.

Element: 3 A truly unique element that rides well, and works well within the layout, as well as being visually appealing. Full credit.

Overall: 7.42

Eclipse - coasterteddy

Tech: 3.5 Well, your curves may have been circular, but your transistions were just totally brutal. Also, brakes were problematic. Curved brakes just do not work on an intamin. It looks dump too...why not just slow down the launch a few MPH if speed is a problem? Also, I was able to get it to valley quite easily on that UPHILL curve between the brakes.

Adreneline: 7.5 I liked what you did with the terrain, but at the same time the ride just sorta felt like a bunch of low hills and turns without any real plan.

Originality: 6.5 Nice use of terrain, but lacking in real standout moments. Just sort of wonders around.

Element: 2 - Never seen on a real, but seen on a number of NL rides, including one I did.

Overall: 5.90

Diavolezza - dcs221

Tech: 8 - The main thing that hurt you was the banking. It just was a bit too sudden in spots, and a bit..wobbely in others. Just didn't feel quite right. I didn't take off too much for it, and i'm being pretty nitpicky at this point. BUt it definatly wasn't flawless.

Adreneline: 7 - What you have is great...it's just over too soon. It feels like maybe about 20 seconds from the launch to the brakes. It just needs...more. Again, what you've got is killer, but it's just all over too soon. I know the contest rules didn't really favor a long ride...but it just needs something strong to finish with... like a nice tight helix or something.

Originality: 9 - Very nice action packed layout with plenty of surprises. Very good use of terrain/

Element: 2.5 - Quite nice modified Immelmansorta thingy. Exit felt a little unnatual...I would have preferred to be unbanked and generated some airtime.

Overall: 8.03

Bluebird - unfortunate_smiely

Tech: 6 Some smallish pumps and jerks, etc, but nothing major. Just lots of little spots that need work.

Adreneline: 5 I found the ride to overall be fairly repetitive and not all that exciting. It just didn't do a whole lot for me. Too many turns, not enough hills. Variety is the spice of life and this just lacks it.

Originality: 5 See above pretty much. This would be a better ride at half the length. I also have a nagging doubt that this meets the capacity criterion, although I really don't have time right now to time it out.

Element: 1.5 - Nothing that stood out as being unique.

Overall: 5.30

The Last Straw - Jakizle

Tech: 8.5 A few minor bumps, nothing major though.

Adreneline: 3 A dude...what? Was there supposed to be a thrill ride here? I mean really, no airtime (and no, that launch hill that flickers between 0.1 and 0.0 is NOT airtime), and just not much of anything really.

Originality: 4 Extremly short, just nothing much here. The beginning is kinda sorta not totally sucky, but the overall package is just not there.

Element: 0.5 An overbank....never seen THAT before have we class?

Overall: 4.84

Thermite - Wing Over

Tech: 9.5 Slight uphill between the brakeruns, but I couldn't get it to valley. Otherwise flawless. Butter smooth throughout the whole track.

Adreneline: 5.5 Well, what it's got is decent, if not overly intense, but the lack of airtime hills and overall shortness bring this down a bit. Doesn't have the sort of punch I normally associate with Intamin.

Originality: 7 A nicely put together layout, even if it is short. You're pretty much the only one I've seen who only used part of the template. A good realistic layout, but it's just all pretty conservative. One might almost say a tad boring.

Element: 1.5 Works well with in the context of the ride, but nothing really ground breaking.

Overall: 7.12

Hillside Rumbler - Mikado

Tech: 6.5 Some real transistion problems, and some annoying banking wobbles in spots, in particular the tops of the two loops. Not terrible, but definatly not perfect.

Adreneline: 7.0 Pretty good ride overall, nice flow and pacing. More flat spots than I would have liked. Also, some parts would have felt faster if they weren't so far up in the air.

Originality: 8.5 Nice twisted layout. Nice variety of elements. Just the right length...not too short, not too long.

Element: 1 It's two loops in a row. I mean...really.

Overall: 6.96

Banzai - deloused_coma

Tech: 4 Lots of pumps and jerks throughout. Banking wasn't nearly as good as could be. A simple run through AHG could have cleaned this thing up a lot.

Adreneline: 7.5 Good speed maintained throughout the ride. Ending was predictable but intense.

Originality: 6.5 Layout was a bit on the simple side. Pretty decent, but kidna predictable at the same time.

Element: 1.5 Almost identical to the inverison on Fire Dragon, but it's not super common.

Overall: 5.90

Azzurro - MF2001

Tech: 5.5 Fairly decent for a hand built ride, but there are a number of shudders, pumps, jerks, etc. Not just a few either. Shame really, as I think this is one of the strongest rides in the contest.

Adreneline: 9 Speed maintained very well throughout. Very nice variety of elements, and nice interplay between different parts of the ride. That whole final run from the diving helix to the brake run is just magic, definatly the best ending of any of the contest rides.

Originality: 9 Great twisted layout that offers something for everyone. The perfect balance of airtime, curves, and inversions.

Element: 1.5 Sorta a wobbly Immelman. Somewhat unique, but not breathtaking.

Overall: 7.57

Vertigo - Thorazine/Tyler

Yes, this is my own ride. While I obviously cannot be totally unbiased when reviewing it, I am doing my best to rate it consistenly with the way I've rated the others.

Tech: 8.5 Generally glass smooth, perhaps a few minor banking moments that aren't quite as fluid as they could be, but that is perhaps not so unrealistic given how quick some of the transistions on Kanonen are. Some minor issues with some of the support connecters.

Adreneline: 8 Good speed maintined through out. Somewhat twisted layout with lots of headchoppers. Weak ending.

Originality: 7.5 The element itself is totally unique, but the rest of the layout is really pretty straightforward although fairly well executed. The last section has some nice terrain interaction.

Element: 3 Really pushes the limits, but definatly unqiue.

Overall: 8.18

As of now (4:38AM EST, Apr 2 '06) these are all the publically available entires.

Overall Scores
8.18: Vertigo - Thorazine/Tyler
8.03: Diavolezza - dcs221
7.57: Azzurro - MF2001
7.42: Madison Goldrusher - trainsix
7.12: Thermite - Wing Over
7.12: Wyvern - Jimmy Yoshi
6.96: Hillside Rumbler - Mikado
5.90: Banzai - deloused_coma
5.90: Digitalus - screamomatic
5.90: Eclipse - coasterteddy
5.30: Bluebird - unfortunate_smiley
4.84: The Last Straw - Jakizle

Based on these scores, I predict the matches will go as follows:

Group 1:
1. Myriad (No track submitted)
16. Jimmy Yoshi

Jimmy Yoshi wins by default.

Group 2:
8. Mikado
9. Iron Man

Iron Man has not posted his ride publically, so I can't call this. Mikado's was a pretty solid entry so this could go either way.

Group 3:
4. Wing-Over
13. screamomatic

Win to Wing-Over, not even close.

Group 4:
5. coasterteddy
12. unfortunate_smiley

Two of the lower rated rides. I predict coasterteddy gets the nod in a fairly close match.

Group 5:
2. Real
15. tracksix

tracksix had a surprisingly good entry, but come on, it's Real. Even sight unseen I don't have much trouble handing this one to Real.

Group 6:
7. MF2001
10. Jakizle

Not even close. MF2001 by a landslide.

Group 7:
3. Thorazine
14. delousedcoma

I think my entry is overall quite a bit better. I beleive my chances of advancing to round 3 are quite good.

Group 8:
6. Matt
11. dcs221

Matt's ride was not posted publically. dcs221's entry was extremly good. I do beleive he will pull of the upset here.

Actually tracksix's element is not original.

I believe Gouldy used it on Raw Steel a very long time ago:
http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_excha ... p?tid=4645

If he did come up with that on his own - thats a funny coicendence.

There are some differences, and they're almost unique elements I'd say. The re is no flat spot on trainsix's, and the lowspot of the curve is more or less at the same height as the entrance/exit, where as on gouldys ride there is a signifigant level section and the low point is about 1/3rd the way up the halfloop height. They ride distinctly differently.

Edited: I also just checked Raw Steel, and trainsix hasn't downloaded it.

chee, I wonder why your own ride is top of the list? [lol]

How the hell can you possibly rate your ride above a ride like Wing-Overs?

I mean, admitedly it's tooled to piss, but so is yours, at least wing-overs ride was actually quite thrilling over the last half of the ride whereas yours did actually just suck donkey penis. Well, at least I thought it did, not that anyone here actually values my opinion [lol]

hate to bich and all, however the brakes aren't there to trim speed but they do stop it velleying mid-course though which is better than nothing... They were definately an afterthought though.
All criticm appreciated though.

ps just realised u were on bout the hill at the end, it has transport so it wont valley in emerg stops (its just invisible thats all)

This is why Tyler is not a mod and doesn't organise these events.

Jakizle, shut up, Hyyyper still builds by hand and he wants to know what wrong with his ride(quitte a lot...). U are using tools, so we aspect them to be almost flawless.

Its not the technical rate that Im worried about. Its adrenaline. Everyone has told me I have way better than a 3 in adrenaline. People have agreed that 0gs sustained at 56 m.p.h. would be awesome. I've also heard the ride has great pacing and a nice flow. It only goes under 40 m.p.h. once, and thats near the end. The rolls are disorienting, the overbank puts you heads over heals over the station, and how fun would diving down a hillside inbetween trees be? I think it would be awesome.

If hyyyper is looking for a rate, he should find somebody that will give a responsible rate.

Jakizle, I do get what Tyler says about your ride, however I don't quite agree. The first hill had great floater air, but you really should've had more airtime moments - one kickass-ejector hill (like -0.8 to -1.0 a bit sustained) would've been enough IMO - best if you'd have coloured it like your rolls, that could've made a really nice surprise.

I still think your coaster's one of the best this round, I just like speedy low-level turns with terrain interaction. Also, the colors are great, as is the pacing - not as ridiculously fast as other entries. Just my opinion though.

^ aspect should be spelled as "expect"

Anyways..... While people who build with tools have an advantage over us hand builders, we have the same advantages as them. We could learn the program just like they did.... except I have to find someone who can sit down and teach me.[lol]

Anywho.....
My favorite was....
Wingovers. It was just a very photogenic ride, and extremely fun to ride, very well built, supports were top notch, coloration of the track was perfect. I even had to start up fraps and make a helicopter flyby around the pretzle loop, because I could totally see that being done for a commercial of this ride. Just one of the best coasters I have ever seen.

My second favorite was DC's. Some good elements, some of them looked like they would have some really wierd sensations, so I would be interested to see how the ride felt if it was built in real life, but sadly, unless if Intamin does it, I don't think I'll ever get the chance.[:(]

I don't really have a 3rd or any other notable tracks, the rest of you were all on par with each other.

I believe it has 4, in each of the rolls and the overbank. Thanks for the comments guys, it's just been a little disheartening seeing my ride at the bottom of the list with a 4.84. I still and always will believe that a rate that low is rediculous.

Tylers a joke.

4!?

4?!?!

Please stop now. That ride is worth alot more than a 4. I'm going to laugh at you now as your a joke. If your infact being serious. I'll laugh even harder!

Thats a huge underate and your one of the many reasons why I don't upload here anymore.

These ratings are really harsh, Tyler. All of the coasters were really good IMO, and I doubt that any of them will get scores below a 6 overall.
