I agree with you, I have Windows x64 too and I was hoping NL would be 64bit. I also have the vista beta, not bad(If I can ever get it installed)

Why haven't new screens shown up? Didn't they say each week?

Vista is 32-bit, only the extreme high-end and extreme highly-priced versions (server for example) will be 64bit. And it's going to use BIOS ...

4GB of memory is such a waste though, at the moment at least.

Umm...512mb of ram is not too high. The requirement for XP right now is 256 and trust me - thats the MINIMUM. I made the mistake of buying my girl a computer (a nice dell) and forgot to upgrade the ram and it runs pretty slow. It runs slower than her old computer which had half the power everywhere else but had 512mb of ram. Ram is all the difference.

512 should be what XP is required to run with. Anything less can seriously cause you issues if you arent doing anything but one process.

I just got a BFG 7600 GT for around 220 pretty powerful card.. havn't tested out NL yet but Im sure if it runs HL2 with most everything on full at 120 fps it will run NL just fine.

Yea, it's a little more powerful than the 6800GS, it's really crippled by it's 128-bit memory interface :-
And yea, Windows XP can run on 256mb of memory, but for most setups, it's shared memory, which can reduce it down to 192mb. That's not anywhere near enough for XP, you want at least 300mb for the OS alone. So yea, 512mb should be the minimum memory requirements for XP, but then companies like Dell wouldn't be able to make their cheap ass PC's.

It's best to just build one or at least find a decent retailer that won't rip you off with a "great and affordable gaming machine". (in other words, a piece of crap for $700 with onboard gfx, 512 ram, and a p4 2.66 ghz.) As to ram, 512 should do for very light gaming and applications, but anything more will demand at least 1024. I'm not even going to bother with 256mb, it pretty much makes the computer obselete. Of course, part of this can probably be blamed on the crapload of background tasks they just had to put in, which the reason is far beyond me why they couldn't at least try to structure a game friendly environment.

As I've probably said earlier, this might have something to do with the CS.com gold ass guests getting the beta copy and/or what I heard in their chat transcript about them taking a break.

Ole taking a break? That's kinda annoying.

I know for myself, usually if I put a project on hold, I rarely return to it, and if I do it's not for a long time.

You'd think it'd be better for him to work on it intensely for a week or two to get it our, or just release it in small increments like include the B&M's in 1.6, the rest of the coaster styles revised in 1.7, new track styles in 1.8, graphic enhancements (including water) in 1.9 and then the big NL 2 releasal a few years after that. Of course you'd need to throw in minor necessary updates inbetween, but you get the picture.

I agree, I wonder how they're doing with texturing the trains. I believe it's not just Ole working on this. He does the coding and maybe the trains and brakes modeling, but I think the textures (at least some) are done by the others. I kind of disagree about the order you did it in, I think the gerst. spinner can go in 1.6 with the remodeled B&M's and looping coaster, while the next has some of the graphic enhancements (not just water, but terrain textures, shadows, catwalks, footers, stations, trees, etc), then maybe a few styles/larger template with muiltiple coasters per scene if it isn't too close to NL 2. However, you do have a good point there.

I think they just did weekly updates for one month long. But it would be a nice present if they suddenly release the update on the 18th of april [lol]

I'm at least glad the NL community isnt as bad as say...the battlefield 2 community when it comes to friendlyness and updates...but then again they are entirly different games from the gameplay standpoint. I can wait. But then again I only have 3 more weeks of having a computer before I have to leave home for the summer.

The trains and textures are done by Ride Op and Phyter. So Ole don't have that much work with the 1.6 uppdate according to what I heard. Just the water[:)]

I'd agree that he probably does more work than we think he does, but for this particular update, he is probably doing less "real" work on the update than other members of the team are. Nevertheless, please just get the patch out soon and make sure it's done right. And can we please have some pics seeing as your almost two weeks overdue?

What I meant is that it isn't that much coding work to do on this update. so ole is mainly working on NL2. This is mostly Ride Op and Phyters show. I think I read Ride Op said that somewhere[:)]

Edit: What Brtnboarder495 said[;)]

yea that makes sense. and its also better and makes the release of NL2 sooner if Ole just kinda goes solo for a while
