I'm only gonna release 1 pic for now, don't want to give too much of the layout away.

Nah, this will probably be a week or two. I have plans for some fairly extensive 3ds. Plus as soon as cjd gets off his ass and gets round 3 underway this will be on the back burner.

I've seen it ... you will be delighted IF he comes through with the 3Ds.

I've never understood the point of withholding pics ... nevertheless looks nice.

People who withhold pics are just trying to hype up their coaster even more. It's to get more people drawn in and following the project so more people will download.

Well I know for a fact that the less information a designer gives out about a coaster design, the less interested I am and less likely I am to keep an eye on the project, download the track and rate.

Of course that's how I am, everyone may not be like that.

Ok, fine you want more pics?

The lift hill and final few hills.

The 3rd block brake and the last helix.

Image
The largest drop on the ride, which actually occurs about 2/3rds of the way through the ride. This drop is at almost 60 degrees. You can really see how the ride uses the terrain,

Check out the headchopper here on another of the larger drops.

The first two switchback turns.

The first drop

Those connectors really need to be perpendicular to the rails. Other than that, this looks very nice. Some good theming already being sprung up and the use of terrain looks to be better than most.

Not quite sure what you mean about the connectors. Gerstlauer builds these rides VERY simply, and I'm just following their example. See, for instance:

Look at the support in the bottom left corner. They just come straight down off the connector.

I think he just means to clean them up a bit. Yes, they are clean but I think he means to add a small peice from the support to the connection point thats at the same angles as the connector.

Its minor but would add a nice touch.

How come you didn't use the same texture? The keystones or whatever you want to call them look a little wierd in my opinion.

I tried that first. Blends together too much. Realsitcally I'll probably end up making my own stone textures anyway.

Well, like I said, new textures:

Those are actually two different textures, one slightly darker so I can still get a bit of constrast.

Ok, last batch of pictures for tonight. I decided that I liked the way the helix scenery was coming, so I went ahead and modeled the objects I thought I'd need to "complete" it. I'm really happy with what I've come up with, while at the same time not going too nuts with the poly counts.
