Also, if you are just one of those arm-chair analysts who sits around reading things but NEVER makes any effort to change anything or even help/start - DONT TALK. I cant stand people who complain about everything but do nothing to help the situation. If you claim you cant do anything - stop complaining.

So that really leaves those who are in the working force, can vote and actively participate in making the country better.

If you arent part of the solution you are part of the problem. Before blaming everything on the president, get up off your butts and do something about it. The President never has and never will have the power to change the US.

Which means secondly, if the peoples attitudes and motivation is based off what the president does or doesnt do - shame on them. Its extremely pathetic when peoples attitudes are crappy because they are upset with the pres all the time and it consumes their being. Lame lame lame.

IMO its time Americans got off their butts and did something about this country instead of waiting for someone else to do it or waiting for the Gov. to do it. This country was founded by the people and is run by the people. Im starting to think the people of this country have forgotten this and only respond in positive ways when the president is a "good" president.

Ridiculous, no?

^Agreed, and btw Real I am 18 and do have a steady job [;)]

I beg to differ. I feel as long as you have a sense about whats going on, you should be able to voice your opinion. Just because you can not vote does not mean you get to have an opinion. And like wise, you don't need to have a job to figure out how ecomics work, you can just as easily find out from your parent, or whoever about how things work, and even though it may not directly effect you, you can get a sense about how it might, and you can still make an opinion about how that makes you feel.

Opinions are like butts, everybody's got them, and the internet allows us to voice our opinion without having to be able to vote.

Also, I've noticed over half of the voting people don't think for themselves but rather do what they're told to. IE in class we'll have a discussion, (and since this happened recently) we would have a discussion about the immigration bill. Automatically everyone in the class is all like, "Man I hate Bush, what does Bush think he's doing? Some one should assasinate him... ect, ect." And they think that because, one, majority of people (no matter what age you are) don't really look into and form thier own opinion about whats going on. They never think about, "What will this do in the future will it be good or bad." They're just thinking of the here and now, which you can't do when it comes to Politics, because politics is all centered around the question, "What can we do to make our lives run a little better?" or "How can we make the world a better place 50 years from now." But people can't look past, "OOohhh, we're at war against the Iraqi's, thats bad!" And realize that a) We aren't at war with the Iraqi's, we're reconstructing the government and having our own troops there to defend the fragile state that Iraq is in currently until they can fend for ourselves, and B) Maybe in the long run the war will actually turn out better in the end. Look at the Civil War, was it justified by any means to have Lincoln say, "Screw you South, if you want to succeed from us, then you'll have to fight to do so?" Because it was in the constitution that a State has the right to succeed if they choose so, and the whole slavery issue had nothing to do with the original reasons why the Union declared war with the Confederate. Which brings me to the next point, after all the destruction and evil that happened during the Civil War, good came out of it, slaves were no longer slaves and were now free people, and looking at it now, aren't you glad that Lincoln had decided to go to war against the Confederates? The same can be applied here.

And like whise, with that statement, I just showed how a nonworking, non-illegible to vote being like myself can think for himself and state his opinion on politics, and actually make sense.[;)]

Sure, you can talk. But it doesnt really matter. It proves that you could be an asset to the US in the future - but, you are just a voice in the crowd of yelling people.

Running a country, like running a business isnt hard.

You motivate. You lead. You make the people feel like they are worth something and that they have a voice. You also make sure you take care of as many needs as possible.

But, in this case, its when the people need to stand up for themselves the most. Youve noticed Ive said nothing, NOTHING about Bush yet. I dont really care. Some people immidiatly are like "Oh! How can you not care?!" Its simple. I dont care what Bush is doing. I care what Im doing.

I care what you do too. If you are one of the minors out there actually trying to do good in the world - not just being stagnant I applaud for that. But see, the reason I generalized that group of people is that most kids under 18 (lets even go to 16) most under 16 are doing nothing for the world. They are thinking of themselves and only themselves. Its that kind of selfishness that is ruining our society. Which at 16 isnt so bad. But you should by that age be looking at what your gifts are and how to use them to better the world than how to better your life. Its not meant to be a derogatory statement - its just how the majority is at 16 years of age and younger.

How come European Amusement parks can have rope/obstacles courses without being sued? How can they have self-operated rides? How can they do anything while US parks cant install a looping ride without OTSR's? Selfishness.

Take a look at the US. Take a look at your city, then your community then you. Is Bush really the problem or is it in the people? I really think alot of it stems from the people. The people do need a leader but if everyones a leader then no one can take charge for themselves. No one can stand up in their community and make a difference.

This world, this city and this life needs more love and less hate. More selflessness and less selfishness.

It all starts with us - not our President. You can quibble over everything hes done and when you get done you wont have accomplished a single thing.

Is that productive? Is that how America became great? No. No president made America great. The people did.

Sadly, the people arent what they used to be. [:(]

I can't be arsed to read the whole thing cuz I am tired and pist off from work but will reply to this comment by coolbeans326
Spiraling into debt.... This is a serious problem, with the whole inflation and everything, I think this issue should be talked about a lot more then the whole immigration thing seeing as how I don't want my dollar to be worth next to nothing in the next 10 - 20 years.

Your dollar today will be worth 50 cents 20 years from now. If this website exists then, revive this topic and I will have proven it. Easy way to prove it is compare prices of the exact same items priced today and as they were priced 20 years ago. Not ripping on you, just letting you know that no matter what, your dollar will be worth less. All of who are in your early 20's I recommend saving 20% of your paycheck and then buy an asset which will continue generating revenue, those over 40 I recommend saving about 40% of your paychecks cuz if you don't save money and buy money generating assets, you are screwed and all the hard work you are doing now will be done in vain since your money will be worth less. Anyway off I go, for those who want to say this is bs what I just posted, don't save, blow your cash and don't try panhandling me when I go buy me a fifth of cognac at the liquor store for me to enjoy my savings [lol] cuz if you do, you aint getting any of my moola.

bowserjoe, you make yourself look like a fool when put on the spotlight to backup what you have posted, if you cannot backup posts on politics then just save your fingers from typing and save me and the rest of the site some money on anger management counseling.

coasterkidmwm, your such as? reply was perfect, most perfect I have seen from you, I am glad to see progress on your recovery [lol]

I really don't know what to think anymore. I'm sick of all our warring, which only spreads more hatred and might lead to our ultimate downfall, but I don't even agree with the democrats anymore either. I hate this f*cking political party system... it's negating our progress as a country.

this kind of simplistic thinking is EXACTLY what bugs me .. on either side of these issues.. first of all, the role of the army , at least in the civilized world is NOT just to blow someones head off. but i'd say that an environment has been created where there are induviduals in the military who think so, but that is not the role of our army. if i used english slang i'd probabaly agree that i think g.w. is a "twat".. ha, and i get your joke, i'll have to agree with whoopi though.. although lice sucks.

Ye man^^^.

Opinions are what run this thread, and your entitled to yours.
But my friends brother went into the army. The first day he got in they give him a gun. And that gun, is what us English are paying for on-top of f-15 bombers etc.
Its just absolutely ridiculous.

Trust me - that gun was paid for a long time ago. So were the planes. I doubt youve purchased any score of new planes lately. Most of the planes in use today have been for quite some time. Only very recently have the US introduced the F-22 but its not even into active duty yet.

he forgot "angry and adrift.....finger in the wind"..... but YOU need to think about your own intolerance, calling people psychos and almost terrorists is lame.. you read my mind, but i'd stop short of calling people names just because you don't agree with them. hell, that gives them creedence.

Why don't you stop trying to be a disciplinarian and control people? All you ever do is this "blah blah blah I must enforce the boards for what is right and good blah blah blah". If you want to control people like that so badly then get some woman pregnant.

Funny how each one of coasters posts are edited. Dont want to say whats really on your mind? Is that because its really so out there and so crazy that you may be seen as a hypocrite as you call others out for being extreme?

Hmm...

As for what you quoted...you are going on knowledge you gained elsewhere. No where in that particular post do you get that hes Baptist or southern or anything.

I get that the political threads are drawn out, boring and pointless. Not that hes a southern baptist preacher. You just inserted that so you could make your comment.

Keep instigating. Its what you love to do. So, wanted to add, whatever you do, do it well. Dont edit yourself to dumb it down or candy coat it. Whatever you do, do it well.

No it's really because I am a notorious for making typos like leaving out a word and I usually find those when i read over what I just did. Sometimes I add to my post, but rarely. Yes I am aware of the preview button but I don't really care.

It's a crime against humanity to use past stupid experiences and comments on people? Care to explain to me why it's okay to use this on Bowserjoe and not Tconwell?
