I've been looking around at rides and many people use catwalks as buildings, and no i don't mean put loads of nodes then loads of supports, i mean they put it for lines then it is filled (they are usually brown and i don't have brown ones!).It is also not a 3D. How do people do this?

Thnx in advance!

The only way to get catwalks is to use the auto-supports that people use for woodies. You can use the catwalks any way you want once you have them. If you take them away from the track's supports, you can redo the auto-supports (make sure the "clear previous supports" box is un-checked) and get it back to the way it was. This keeps the catwalks you decided to use in the editor. You may want to get rid of all of the extra supports from the first support generation before re-auto supporting. That makes sure you don't have twice as many supports as you need.

As Gerst perfectly said it's important you leave empty the red space, then you can add as many catwalks as you want.

and also, you dont have to use all supports, unclick handrails and widesupports from the check box, and youll just get those things. Then its easier to delete/use the ones you want/dont want.

Another idea to make it easier to delete unwanted supports:

Highlight a section that should provide as many catwalks as you may need and register the following settings:

Then go to segment and do this:

4-Skyrush | 5-Iron Rattler | 6-X2 | 7-Kingda Ka
