Well, if history has anything to say about it ...
But, very cool that he remembered us over here on the other side of the internet. (Kept apart from other sites intentionally to prevent a riot.) I still think the octagon wheels are humorous.

MASSIVE POLY COUNT!!! I liked the way you blended the rendering in, though... trippy.

Yeah, I found that picture on google. I didn't modify it at all, so yeah it was already a pretty cool rendering. Hope you all enjoyed it! :)

^ look at the poly count. When you can't easily count the polies, there is a lot. And to get render quality poly counts like that, I still imagine will be several new cards into the future. But as far as enviornmental graphics go, yes we are not that far behind.

I think those gfx will be able to run in real time soon, it probably could run on something like the PS3, even with the high poly detail. I've seen many real time shots where you can't count the poly's (not easily at least), and those were XBox 360 games.

The cam follows the train from one spot and zooms in and out a bit.. Nice!

Trains are looking sexy!

Those cars looked more detailed than they ever did before, and make the catwalks look just sad. [:)] Also, notice the env maps on the handle grips. They had those on the unicoaster too, but never did it to 1.5 except for the vekoma motorbikes' smoke pipes) I wonder what the target view will be like, it appears to have automatic FOV adjustments, and kind of reminds me of those kind of replay modes in mario kart. As to the water, he said earlier it would work with low end DirectX 8.1 cards (like the geforce 2/4mx), but since it's not going to anymore, I'm guessing he might have made an improvement to the feature, either one that makes it run faster and/or makes it look better. (maybe it's a mirror type effect now, and we might see some translucency too) Either way, doesn't really matter if it isn't supported by those cards, which are pretty much crap anyway.

good observation bout the env maps. Yea thats almost a definate that NL2 will have full on reflective attributes for trains/track/supports.

If you want a real demo of what the target view will be like, watch the Voyage sim vid they did back when they first announced it.

Click on the off ride video to see the target view used.

its really theatrical.
