NoLimits Coasterdraft

I had the idea of running another coasterdraft before the one in summer, not with real coasters this time, but with No Limits creations! For those who don??????t know how such a draft works, you can read it here: http://www.coastercrazy.com/forum/topic.a ... C_ID=10892

Credit for the original coasterdraft idea goes out to Coasterlove from TN.

There will be max. 15 players this time (meaning up to 14 other members plus me), and only 10 rounds.

The coasters that can be picked must be NL coasters hosted at wws/cc and must be in the category REALISTIC coasters ?????? no fantasy coasters / recreations. The link to the track must be posted with the pick. If at least two rates and at least 50% of the rates on such a coaster say that the ride is not realistic at all, it cannot be picked.
NL coasters uploaded at ANY date up to now (21. April) can be picked, though you may not pick more than two rides from the same designer (including yourself). Also, you are not allowed to pick more than one coaster from a specific contest round. If one of your picks is illegal according to these rules and you don??????t replace it with a correct pick before your deadline, you have missed your turn.

You will be disqualified if you miss more than two subsequent turns, or more than four turns overall, OR if you are banned during the draft.

One of the main goals of this special kind of draft is to look at and discuss older NL gems again. There will be some modifications made to any coaster, so that newer tracks don??????t have an technical advantage over older ones, or tooled tracks over handbuilt ones. Here are these modifications:

1. Minor bumps and pumps will be imagined non-existent for reasons of realism. However, the overall shaping and pacing won??????t be changed, which means excessive g??????s and heavy pumping caused by badly shaped track will stay.
2. Lack of heartlining or improper heartlining will be corrected for all of the ride types of companies that are known to heartline their coasters. Other than that, transitions will stay as they are, even if they??????re too quick or flat and boring, for example.
3. If a track is undersupported, the minimum of supports needed for it to hold up will be added. Still it??????s a plus if a track has worked supports, for good visuals, headchoppers, etc.

If you have questions, comments or criticism about these modifications or the overall rules, just post them. I appreciate any discussions up to the day the draft begins, because after that, the rules will be as they stand here.

Also, I??????m glad about everybody who helps with the organization. As I??????m European, I won??????t be able to be online on US evenings, for example. So, if you participate, it would be great if you??????d quickly check the NL draft every time you visit wws, and post something like ??????memberxy has until 1-1-01 12.05.09 to pick?????? if nobody has done that after the last pick.
Also, don??????t wait for me to start a new round. I??????ll do it if I??????m here, but if at least two participants agree about the order for the following round, they??????re allowed to start it ?????? if that order was incorrect, though, I??????ll restart the round and all picks made in this round will be undone.

So, if you want to join, just post here!

I guess I'll try it, if everyone agrees to let it take place with no issues.

sounds fun, but nah, i won't join. I want to choose all my coasters for the draft [:D] not other people's tracks [lol]

Anyway, good luck to the people who want to join. I'll probably see some of my creations coming in the draft [lol]

That's just what I thought, it'd be a nice experiment. Also, we can still modify some of the rules if they don't seem fitting for everybody.
Pity Dirk, but I can understand you - I'd probably think in the the same way if I had the time to build all of my coaster ideas in NL[;)]

I'll join, this should be fun.

Are users allowed to pick their own tracks?

I'll join. Maybe my encyclopedic knowledge of coaster ratings from 2003 through 2004 will finally come in handy...

Great guys, so we have five drafters so far:

Jakizle
Canadmos
jpecool
cjd
Pad

And yes, users are allowed to pick their own tracks, but only up to two, like of any other user... So you'll have to decide which is your best work [;)]

I guess we'll wait a few days to see if someone else wants to compete. No need for 15 drafters, but some more would be good, I think [:)]

I'm going to bed in a few minutes (damn autocad homework..4:30am [xx(]), but when I wake up later today I'll make a front page post about this to try and get a few more users to participate.

Alright, that makes seven by now:

Jakizle
Canadmos
jpecool
cjd
Pad
bigboy_1234567
CoAsTeRkRazY

I think that'd be enough for a fun little draft already, but let's set the start to wednesday to give some others the chance to join if they want to.

Can't wait guys, I'm actually pretty excited about this one.

Pad, how will the order for each round be determined? I may have missed it in the rules.

Just like in the last draft. We'll pick numbers between 1 and 100, and I will then roll a D100 to make the order for the first round. For the next round, the drafters will always move up by one spot, and the person who picked first in the last round will pick last in the next.

The list of participants has increased by another two members[:D]:

Jakizle
Canadmos
jpecool
cjd
Pad
bigboy_1234567
CoAsTeRkRazY
screamomatic

Ok, wednesday. The list of participants is set as stands above, I think nine is a perfect number so we all get good drafts but there's still some nice competition. TIME TO START!

First, everbody of you has to post here a number between 1 and 100 that was not already picked by another drafter. I will then roll a d100, and the person whose number was closest to the result will pick first in the first round, the next close will pick second etc.

My personal number is 27 - yet again [:)]

!PICK YOUR NUMBERS!

BTW, I've lightened the disqualification rules a bit as we're not so many, we won't have problems with too long waits.
