La Ronde is turning into a Great Amusment Park, it now has two B&M coasters... Wonderland has like, None...

No wonder americans arn't coming to canada no more, maybe if we had some really great Amusment parks...

omg, what a boring ride, it just goes up down a lot of times and a slow turnaround. airtime alone doesn't make a coaster

If the new Goliaths were designed similar enough, Goliath (LR) will not dissapoint.

Hyyyper, If airtime doesnt make a ride, then why is Shivering Timbers constantly shoing up on top 5 lists? Its all in prespective. Personally, I think Goliath is gonna kick ass, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Hyyyper, I didn't say Shivering Timbers is on YOUR top 5 list. Hell, El Condor is one of your favourite rides.

To prove my point, let?????????s take a look at the past three years of Amusement Today?????????s Golden Ticket Awards. Before we start, I don't agree with all of the ratings on Amusement Today, but I find them quite accurate in a public and enthusiast sense.

2003 - http://www.amusementtoday.com/2003gta.html - Shivering Timbers #2

2004 - http://www.amusementtoday.com/2004gtawood.html - Shivering Timbers #2

2005 - http://www.amusementtoday.com/2005gtawood.html - Shivering Timbers #3

Also realize that Magnum XL-200 an ?????????out-and-back????????? by todays standards sits at #3 and Apollo?????????s Chariot at #4.

So do realize that airtime ?????????can????????? make a ride. I mean, isn't airtime a major focal point for almost all non-inverting hyper coasters. I also hear people complaing about lack of airtime on many rides that are specifically designed for airtime. Airtime is the ideal force for many people, which I would take over heavy positive-g?????????s any day.

Shivering Timbers is my #3 behind Raven @ night and Cornball Express @ night. All three feature unreal amounts of airtime.

If youve never experienced sweet airtime - please dont comment. And by sweet I mean on a ride that has substantial airtime more than 3-4 times around its course.

hyyyper - you should visit one of the airtime machines around you. EGF, Thundercoaster, etc.

IMO, airtime is great, but if a ride was only airtime, then it wouldn't be considered a great ride. AC is mainly airtime, but also has a great turnaround and a cool twisty thingy with an awesome handchopper. It's these things that make it a great ride, and as mentioned earlier a #4 ride.

On May 11th of 2006, 72 Davids conquered the mighty Goliath at La Ronde. 72 riders were randomly picked from over 1200 volunteers to test out Canada's newest, tallest and fastest roller coaster.

Goliath opens to the public on May 13th, 2006.

Click here to view pictures from Goliath's media day.

And now that this ride will be open in less than 12 hours, its time to move this thread to the real coaster forum.

Actually, I think the turnaround don this ride is very original and much better than AC's helix.

^chhhh yea right AC helix is far better and it acctually swoops the ground and its probaly alot faster then Goliaths. Goliaths is jus a simple 45 degree up then like a 225 flat turn LAME AC's owns Goliath's

Except it looks like Goliaths is better. Sure, it wont pound you with G's but it looks to provide GREAT airtime in the front seat when entering and great twisting airtime in the back.

Dont be so typical and closed minded. They do something new and you still cant find anything to say about it.
