HUGE scoop!

I visited the site near Hotel Breakers Express, where the tarp covering the track of the new 2007 coaster for Cedar Point is. Well, guess what? A northeast wind was blowing, pushing the tarp directly up against the track, and revealing its shadow. I was lucky enough to have my camera handy for the short time that it was visible, and I now have something that nobody else has... visual confirmation that Cedar Point is building a gigantic Intamin coaster for next year. Look for yourself...

The outline of Intamin track is clearly visible. And take a look at the ridiculously wide turning radius! This thing is going to be huge!

By the way, just so that everyone knows, I did not break any rules to get this picture. I was outside of the fence, and did not enter the restricted area.

Now that I look at the construction area, it all makes sense. Why else would Cedar Point start building footers over a year before the ride will open? Even Millennium Force didn't start until late September. This is one huge project. I'm definitely psyched. This is the most excited I've been about a construction project since... well, okay it was just 5 minutes ago when I was looking at pics of The Voyage...

Actually, if you look at the pic, the rail side of the track side is down. It's a sit-down, not suspended. Unless they're doing a suspended coaster with a huge airtime hill, that is...

Is the track four tube of three tube? I can't quite judge from the picture.

holy crap, this is going to be INSANE!!

seriously, the thought of a coaster with the most inversions has been wiped out of my mind, and now im thinking height and speed!!! Maybe something giant, like the tallest ride in the world. but whatever it is, its gonna be great!

That piece is probably the piece of the bottom of the fastest hill.

if it is INVERTED, im thinkin this: itll probably be the tallest, fastest inverted in the world. It will NOT be the tallest coaster in the world.

I think it is going to be a fast pace inversion ride like stormrunner or something. if not, as i said before, 500 FEET (150 m) BABY!!

OR.. maybe it is going to be t/f dueling/racing coaster. knowing cedar point, thay may even make it a TRIPLE RACER!!!

that red circle is not correct! it is wayyyyyy too small for the ride we see.

The red circle doesnt do the area justice. But I dont get where you guys are geting the idea its a launched ride.

It's an Intamin Aquatrax ride, the are launched, And they can do anything a normal sitdown can do... sort of.

i dont think it would be a launched coaster thats 500+ feet because they already have a coaster thats like that and its no sense to have 2 of the same coaster. if its launched i think it would probably be something like storm runner. only the biggest one like it.

but then again... it could be something like colossus, but with the most inversions. like 11 or 12.

I doubt it will go anywhere near any record. We know it's Intamin, but it's completely stupid to build a 500ft coaster when CP already has one over 400ft. They poured enough money into making TTD, and I don't think they want to spend the millions more for something bigger.

And Tiepilot, we already have triple racing coasters. In the form of Steeplechase at Blackpool and the now defunct Soap Box Racers at Knotts.

At this point in the construction, only time will tell what the ride will truly be. I'm not making any predictions.

One might say it was a replacement part for Millenium Force, but then again why wouldn't they have fitted it for the start of the season and also the size mismatch maybe. I cannot judge as I have not been there. Also what is the possibilty that they will take the coaster out onto the lake? I'm generaly asking as I have no idea of the scale of the site

Cedar point is still in need of a 8 or 9 looper. Maybe an 11 looping Intamin sit down coaster to break the inversion record.?

500 foot +. You must be seriously drunk. A 500 foot coaster would not occupy the land that Jimmy pointed out.
