It's gotta be aquatrax. There's not nearly enough room for a huge intamin, and they definitely will not build another rocket coaster IMO, all of you saying "its a recordbreaking launcher omg" are pretty much as wrong as could be IMO, aside form the Intamin part. But yea, I'd put my money on an Aquatrax such as the one in Lotte World or a small novelty Intamin, but I doubt that. So I'm thinking Aquatrax. But I've been wrong before. [:I]

The site pretty big, it covers 5 acres I think... It wont go over the lake, but there is a large pond near the Thunder Canyon ride.... It is filled with footers, I guess you know that though.

As already said, it probably won't be the tallest, because as of right now the tallest coasters are all TTD style, so to build the same thing would be lame! A lot of people are saying Aquatrax since there are now footers over the water in the park, but it's still very hard to say!! Only time can tell!!!

it could be a spare/replaced piece from MF as it does seem to be the same colour and we're all being duped into thinking it's an intamin[;)]

If it's an aquatrax, would they really need a track piece that big? Apparently you guys aren't quite getting just how big that track is. The overall height of the track's spine is approximately the same as Top Thrill Dragster, and the radius is even wider than TTD's climb. That's why I'm speculating a 500+... a smaller coaster just wouldn't need that much track. It would be using a tighter radius and track with a shorter spine.

As far as the possibility that this isn't a part for the new coaster at all, I guess we can't completely rule it out. There is no way that the track piece is a replacement part for MF or TTD... steel coasters don't get re-tracked, no matter how old they get. If this piece isn't for the new coaster, that means that Cedar Point planted it there as a decoy, to lure an unsuspecting enthusiast like me into seeing the track, taking a pic, and diverting attention from their real plans. Yeah... I guess it's technically possible.

By the way, that ,map picture that shows the area is very decieving. If you look at the satellite view, it is not shaped like that.

Nice find btw, but if you look here,http://rcdb.com/ig2498.htm?picture=35, it obviously has a larger radius than the entrance to the top hat, so IMO I doubt it'll be like Storm Runner. And here, http://rcdb.com/ig1896.htm?picture=57, the track radius even looks bigger than Top Thrill Dragster's.

BTW, would they be able to extend into Lake Erie? Or would it be prohibited? Cuz with a coaster that big they would definetly need a lot of room.

Yes, I do think they'd need track that big for an Aquatraxx. And yes, it would be that big of a radius, since Aquatraxx need lower vertical g-forces. And as for the area of the new coaster's size, while it's bigger than appears on the park map, it still is not nearly as big as the area covered by rides like Storm Runner and Speed Racer. Big enough for a ride like Kaanonen or Rita, yes, but I personally doubt they'd build a rocket coaster regardless.

I'm going with Aquatrax as well. They are prolly just competing now with SFMM for the most coasters. At least all of CP's coasters work!

Very intersting find CJD. Im with Woodie Man on this, I'm not going to speculate anything at all. I'll just sit back and watch CP build whatever it's going to be.

http://rcdb.com/ig1565.htm?picture=9 If you look at this picture of a 150 foot Intamin, you can see that near the inflection point of the drop, the radius goes from infinite (straight) to a certain radius that's probably smaller than the one in the picture cjd showed us. This section at CP may be close to the inflection point of a drop (meaning the drop may not be as big as it might seem from this picture), not necessarily at the bottom of a pullout.

Ofcourse... this may be the biggest coaster ever; what do I know?

lol. hahah. I'm excited about this, it would be really lame if it was an aquatraxx. It'd be awesome it it was a multi-inversion Intamin.

One question: why are you all assuming that in order to break a height record it would have to be a rocket? I'd personally much rather see a 500+ footer with a drop.

If it is indeed an aquatrax, it better be pretty damn big... otherwise, I'm gonna be pissed that there was no big finale for Kinzel. He deserves a nice big, steep, fast, gut-busting thrill machine, not just some random aqua coaster.

Maybe they liked how Thorpe Park used Intamin tracks to design their entrance and took some idea. ;) jk..

Is no one else extremly exited[:)].
CJD dude, you're now officially a legend [worship].

Im going for Aquatrax too, it seems it will occupy the space Jimmy pointed out very nicely. It cant be over 500 foot at all. The space just isnt big enough.

CJD, do you have any other pics of this, or is it just this one?

For now, I'm going with Dcs's theory.

They probably wouldn't really, but if they were to do that i dont think it would be a rocket at all. Like you said, they already have TTD.

And can somebody plz explain wut an aquatrax coaster is? I've never heard of any[:p]

WOW you people near cedar point are spoilt. You would MOAN if you got an aquatrax? I think they still look pretty darn fun, a ride doesnty have to be the biggest, fastest, most intense coaster on the planet to be fun. Heck, I love Spinball Whizzer and its a family coaster.... lol. Dont knock things until you've tried them!

But, personally, i dont think its an aquatrax. It COULD be, i just dont think it is. I think its more likely to be an intamin looper, which would be good for you guys cos they are fun too [:)] Unless it doesnt have the inlines in a row.... Which would suck for you! lol.

I think thats it going to be somthing that the world has never seen before. Like every CP coaster. Did anybody think that a elavator lift could be used in a coaster and go 300 feet. Then use hydralics and go 400 feet tall. This project could have been planed for years. I think that this coaster is going to be somthing that will blow ours minds when it announced.

And don't be fooled CP might be building more than just one thing for 2007. Remember they dont have the most coasters anymore and I'm sure Kinzel wants to go out with a huge bang. Thats why I think they started building so soon.

I think theres a few advantages to building this early. A. Winter up in Sandusky sucks, its cold, windy, and they get heavy snow. B. If you are building something in the park during the operating season, the average guest sees the construction and that sparks interest into whatever is being built so they might come back next year.

I don't think it will go above 500 feet. I think an aquatrax is a good possibility, they didn't destroy the WHite Water Landing station, so it can be reused OR they just kept it for historical reasons. IMO they need a new looper too. Mantis was their last looping coaster and that was 10 years ago.
