I'm on my parents' laptop and I'm not quite sure why, but every time Windows Media Player opens, it will not, in any way, maximize or restore. It appears in the taskbar, but nothing else shows up. And then if I minimize it into the taskbar player, I can see video and everything, and there is also no problem with the browser plug-ins.

any ideas? its driving me crazy and I absolutely cannot figure out a way to fix it. I'm running virus and anti-spyware scans (even though they don't ever do much).

It doesn't sound like a virus or spyware, it just sounds like the settings that you have. I had a problem similar to this a while back, but I can't remember how I fixed it.

oh, well yea I wasn't running the virus and spyware stuff mainly for this problem, but I thought it might help in some way just in case. but yea, if you can think of any possible solutions, I'd appreciate it.

ok i found it:

Start WMP and it should appear next to the clock
Right-Click on an empty piece of taskbar
Choose "taskbars" and remove the "thingie" from WMP and it should work

I hardly use Windows Media Player. I say download winamp, it works a lot better for me and it basically does the same thing.

I would...except its my parents and they're not so, for the lack of a better word, adjustable.

I've already done that. it doesn't seem to work either.
