UPDATE:

More pics from the mysterious blue tarp, which we now know to contain Intamin track, and also some pics from the construction area.

This picture is of the same blue tarp posted on the first page, but from a different angle showing the front and the side.
Image

Another picture of the blue tarp, but this time of the end. As you can clearly see, the track underneath is 4-tube. However, I have no idea what is on the left side... all I can identify is the single piece of track on the right. It's really wierd if you ask me... why only 1 piece?

On we go to the actual construction area. This pic is of the footers that have been placed out over the lake, along with a sign that suggests that this coaster will be "moving CP in a whole new direction". Hmm...
Image

In this pic, you can clearly see that the footers in this area define a turn. The footers get closer and closer together as they move along, which suggests that the coaster will be executing a diving turn at that point. Also, the radius of curvature indicates that the train will be going between 55 and 70 mph at this point. Also, looking at how the sign is worded, it looks like CP is planning on using the name "Maverick" that they trademarked.
Image

These pipes are very mysterious... there are lots and lots of them just laying around. Speculation, anyone?
Image

One last pic... this one is supposed to show just how gigantic the construction area is, but it would take 5 pictures lined end to end to cover the entire area. It goes all the way from the fringes of Mean Streak's area back through where WWL used to be, covering the whole length of the car ride, from the guest path all the way back to the perimiter parkway, and over to the entire area up to Thunder Canyon. It is a huge site, not in length but in sheer volume. This is going to be one heck of a huge ride!

Wow, definetly looks like something Intamin would do now...The rockets came in multiples this year, I wonder if we could see two "wing walkers."

CJD, I dont want to come off as a total jerk but your MPH estimates are way off. You really have no idea how fast its going since support closeness has nothing to do directly with speed and G's.

What about the helicies on SROS? Do you know if itll have bi, tri or quad track there? What size will the actual support be?

I do not see where you think the rides going to be huge. Kanonen is like 90ft tall and has Quad track. Storm Runner is only 180ft or so. You know yourself so dont make claims like that. Just give us reports and pictures and thats cool but it just sounds so foolish to start claiming that its the next humungous record breaker which - from the signs - would be the complete opposite. CP's direction has always been tallest and fastest. They claim to move in another direction...??

Infact, heres a more correct observation.

Notice how the pairs of footers get closer together? It means the track will be closer to the water because it means the angle support wont be as long. Which probably means those single footers will have track right on top of them and it will pull up starting with that square footer.

Doing 55-70? I highly doubt that because the radius is very small. That pond isnt that big and as I said, entering or exiting the track will be lowest at those single footers because being that close to the ground you dont need an angle support. Nor is it feesible anyways.

^Yeah, I guess it is a bit high. 50-60 would be a better guess. I made that estimate by comparing the turning radius to the radiuses on Raptor and Millennium Force. Sorry if it seems off... it was just a stab. Also, in response to not knowing if it's bi, tri, or quad, I only know that it's not bi. The supports would have to be much closer together for it to be bi. But you're right, I don't know if it will be tri or quad.

BTW, I no longer think that they're going for 500. Even if that turn is 70, it will have had to go over 8000 feet of track to be going that speed after the speed needed to go 500. I'm guessing it will be between 200 and 300 now, and I have no idea what Intamin model they're making.

I think that all of the footers over the pond are the footers for the end of the ride because the radius of that turning radius is way smaller then that piece of track we saw before. And for the different direction, i just think they're making a lot of the ride over water. I dont know, i might be waaaaaay off, but oh well, just an idea.

The best thing we can do now is just wait 'till we find more information, or proof, and/or an annoucement, i heard this thing might be announced in july.

Actually i'm surprised they haven't announced it yet. It seems a little late in the construction (depending on your preferences) to be announcing what's going on. But that's just my opinion.

They did take down their water coaster..And it is obviously over the water.. Maybe Intamin is using a new track style for Cedar Point? Maybe too hopeful....

I hope they do announce it soon. But thats just because I really want to know that the heck they are building and see who perdictions were right. But I think that CP needs to get to word out about Skyhawk and make that a success before they announce "Project 2007". Speaking about Skyhawk I just seen the new Cp commerical about Skyhawk...

Do you guys remember that Dragster stuff started an entire year before and they didnt announce till January of the year it opened?

They will opt for maximum speculation to increase awareness (as if thats NEEDED) for the park and the ride. Thats why they put stuff out in the wide open but cover it up.

THEY HYPED UP A SWING!! Thats how low they will go.

Surely the Uber Designer knows when and when not to hype something up.

Whatever advertising they did with Skyhawk, it didn't work. Opening weekend was completely dead.

Exactly. Its business, but they used a blog to hype up a swing.

How many GP go to cedar points website? Probably not many. If they do, they probably go to check the usual stuff - dates and hours. Will they check the blog? maybe. Will they be so captivated to return? No. Only geeks do that.

Theres not enough hyping in the world to make the GP rush to ride a giant swing. Are they cool rides? I bet. Are they worth going out of your way to advertise? Not really. Its just another ride in the park to ride.

I get this feeling like someone is trying to be a part of the conversation - but I just cant hear em. Or see em.
