^Uh, we know it's a roller coaster. I *hope* that was a typo. Anyways, has anyone heard/seen anything about the project the last few days?

hey now, Blue Streak is the oldest and Boldest coaster in the park....

ride pride :)

but yeah, I have heard some encouraging rumors...... CP is getting a new B&M train for the most part though......

Mantis is getting 3.

Heh, but Knott's is owned by Cedar Fair, so it's still all in the family.

But good job there CJD, I'd have to go along with that. I think that it'll be either a brand new type of coaster (probably by Intamin, since CP has been LOVING Intamin lately) or one that breaks the inversion record.

And Coaster Indavidual, Mantis has VERY long loading times, since they restraint system is very complex. When I was there in the summer of 04, there was always stacking, there was always a train waiting on the block brakes, waiting for the train in the station to begin the lift climb. So I highly doubt they could of shaved off enough time to include time for three trains. Even if they were more efficient in loading, the safety precautions necessary for the loading of Mantis are unavoidable. Just a negative aspect of having a unique coaster type in a park, while they are usually crowd pleasers, they usually hold poor capacity (when compared to other rides in the park!).

On the other hand, I've heard that MF has really got an excellent crew going and has been dispatching trains right after the train clears the first set of brakes. This is thrilling to hear as I remember having to wait at the block brakes for quite some time in 04.

Let's hope that this is common with all the coasters at CP, that would be nice. But overall I think CP's coasters hold great capacity and efficient staff (SO unlike SF's).

No, there isnt any, there is only one 4D inoperation right now, and its X, there is also one under construction in Japan.

Anyways, back on topic, new track has arrived, and lots of it!

yea CP is amazing.
ever wonder what the hell happened to dorney park.
it seems like cedar fair only cares about knotts and CP.
maybe cuz dorney doesnt have a lot of land

Well, here's what happened with Dorney: now that all the buzz from Hydra is done with, we aren't focusing on them as much. Right now we're paying attention to the new coasters and footers and track in the case of what's being built at CP.

Oh, and Brtn, Knotts wasn't in the Cedar Fair family until they got bought out in '97 I believe. Therefore, CF can't claim the record of having the first corkscrew coaster.

CP is going to build something that is the tallest and fastest. But it will be in a catagory of something. Like the tallest and fastest lopper. I think that CP is building something that we have never seen before. I can hardly wait.

^Not so sure. The tallest and faster looper will have to be larger than I believe Dragon Khan. However, to have the most inversions only means it has to be larger than Colossus. Which is ALOT smaller than DK.

I can wait. They have failed to truely impress me in years.

NO, its slower than last year. the line started at the straight away and took for ever because they waited about 20 - 30 sec between rides.

Hydra rules, so does Talon. Being a CP native, Id trade up Talon and Hydra straight up for Mantis and MF. Plus wed have a TON of room for another few quality insallations. :D


A few people have specculated that the tri-track looks smaller than on MF...well, that could be the case. However, I compared some pictures and found the tri-track to have the same relative dimensions as that on MF. Which, it would have too in order to be a looper since the track width would more than likly be the same.


Who knows.

Real, Viper SFMM's a much taller looper than Dragon Kahn at 188 feet (plus SOB's 218 feet)... If you don't count Speed at 224 feet, then CP would have to beat 188 feet to gain the tallest full circuit steel looper title (unless I missed a looper taller than 224 feet.)

*rolls eyes* There is no difference between a sit down looper and a stand up except that it takes an extra few seconds to get situated, and that is dependant on the rider's intelligance. Straddle the seat... once your feet are on the ground pull down the restraint, lock the seat belt, once your locked down your locked down... it operates like any other B&M basically.

Except that there is a huge difference at CP. The whole people having feet flat on floor is only half the battle. The other is making everyone stand up and ensuring that ALL trains are launched with EVERYONE in the perfect position. It only ever runs 2 trains reguardless of line and the third train has sat beneath the brake run, enclosed in a tarp for a couple years now.

^^On top of that fact that I was being general (since DK comes to mind first for taller + most inversions at 188 w/ 8 inversions) yes, it means itll have to be pretty large - larger than I think will fit comfortably in that area. Could they? yea. They can do anything.


However, as stated before, i do not think height has anything to do with it.


And dont forget the highest inversion goes to Volcano Blast Coaster at 155ft - not the Sky Wheel at 150' 11". ;)

Yea, the typical rider's intelligence certainly isn't high (Welcome to America!).

In addition, EACH seat must be checked by a ride operator, and then confirmed with the dispatcher. Since there is only one dispatcher that must listen to each seat confirmation, this can take more time than you think. And then if someone pulls the restraint down too much, guess what happens? They have to unlock the seat and re adjust it. Note that the person who must do this is the ride dispatcher. I think the main problem is that the main ride dispatcher who is at the "computer" has way to many things to do, and that causes part of the delays.

I mean really, by the time that the train on the brake section is in the station, the other train is well up the lift. Then it's only about a minute before they're on the brakes again. 1 minute to unload and then re-load a train with a complicated restraint system isn't easy. Typically, as I recall, we had to wait on the brake run for at least 30 seconds before we could re-enter the station.

So IMO there is NO way in hell they could run three trains smoothly, if they can hardly run two.

EDIT: Does anyone think that since some of the signs suggest the repeating of the ride (shuttle mode, or going in reverse) that this could suggest Vekoma's new outer-rail technology that features a train going forwards and backwards. This would be wicked with inversions too. Of course that does kill off that segment of track idea/picture, but since there aren't any other pieces of track lying around maybe it's true that that piece of track is just a replacement for MF.

Not saying I'm right, just trying to stir up new ideas :D

^I could only WISH a Storm Runner type. Storm Runner is better than any ride at CP times 2. Its freaking awesome.

They won't clone Storm Runner, and the G's won't be "High". They'll be normal
