IMPORTANT

Incase you haven't noticed, it is no longer necessary to place ".nlpack" files insides of ZIPs. So, quit wasting my time, me no like to unzip.

Jimmy.

NOOOOOOO, Please put your packs inside zips!!!!!!!!!

lol, When the packs arent in zips that means I need to save them to the disk. When they are in zips I can just open the zip and run the pack, without saving it to my comp. I cant stand when its just an NLpack file!

Ill never put it in a zip. Its just another useless step to create clutter.

Put tracks in NL packs too, even if it's not with any 3Ds files. That's when you make everyone have to ride.

Thought I would point this change out to some people who might not have noticed.

Just open the zips and run the nlpack from there, it works just fine.

why? I can see not zipping nlpack files, but when its just a track, no 3ds or anything, there's no point. just upload the track. if there's someone in here who hasn't figured out that you can open tracks without loading them via the editor, you're stupid.

Putting nlpacks in zips pretty much defeat the purpose of the nlpacks. Yes, it does compress it, but not to a very noticable degree. I would say upload only the nlpack.

I noticed a few people had been just uploading .nlpack's before, but I wasn't sure if they were supposed to or not. Glad it's official now.

it's never been official to even upload extra files in the tracks but people just went on and I can't be arsed to check each track upped to the site, nlpack acceptance was done a week or so ago so meh guess you can go ahead and upload away in nlpack

nltrack and nlpack files are usually so small anyway, compressing/zipping them is such a waste. Just nlpack them.

Well, since it will make SFMM mad, I will continue to NOT use a zip. [lol]

Zip file = smaller file size to. a 3meg file compared to a 700k file may not make much differanc to some but I know there are people out there still using dialup. I think it would just be a curtious gesture to them as well.

^ You were zipping up a standard .nltrack file from a woodie, that makes a difference big difference when zipped. Zipping .nlpack files makes virtually no difference at all, except for a couple of KB. Not worth all the extra effort and clutter.

Thanks for explaining that Wing -- hopefully it educates folks.
Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.

Yeah, I suppose so on the pack files. In that case then there really isn't a reason to zip the pack files. They are already compressed.

I changed my mind, I'll just load everything non zip. makes more sense. I think folks get confused though when they go to the upload page. The way it is worded makes it sound like you have to pack files in a zip. Honest mistake really.

Thanks for letting us all know
