as of friday i wont be around untill tuesday night as im off for a 5 day interview with drayton manor for the position of apprentice maintainence technician. ive never been through a interview like this. for the position me and 5 other chosen people have to stay inside the park and have a short basic instruction on how to repair the apocalypse, shock wave, the haunting, excalibur, the flying jumbos, and splash canyon. this will take 2 days and for the other 3 we are on 24 hour call, the rides will purposely be tampered with and shut down and then it is up to us to repair the fault as quickly and efficiantly as possiable while being watched by an adjudicator who will grade us on our workman ship, safty, efectivness, efficianty, and attitude. this is one hell of a challange but the rewards will pay off straight away as the apprentice will be sent to germany for 2 weeks at a time every 4-5 months for advanced training on test rides. then theres spending all day with the 2 engineers on call and learning off of them, and not forgetting the ?????????120,000 a year salery plus benifits and the finnal position of master engineer. i really hope to make it through this and achive somthing ive wanted to do all of my life, even so ive made it this far ad i never thourght i would make it past the first interview not alone the third.

see all your uni and school studys pay off in the end and even if i dont get the job there are representertives from tussads and blackpool pleasure beach watching to so if i dont get the postion at drayton maby theres one there.

yes the salery is a wonder ful one but its only after 4 years of training and experiance so the starting salery will only be ?????????60,000. still a shed load of money when im stuck in a dead end job getting just ?????????14,000 at the moment but its not the money thats important to me. its somthing i know ill enjoy for the rest of my life and will never regret. plus as a bonus free passes in to the park and pre ride opening testing so i can get there first. just a couple of perks.

help? unfortunatly i dont exactly know what we'll be doing as do none of the other applicnts, all weve been told is that its a 5 day interview with a 2 day training period and a 24 hour condition callout. ( and by the way i know drayton manor isnt open 24 hours but it to test us in every aspec from working in the dark to when were very tired so dont none of you start going on at me. just as a warning, im very stressed at the mo so dont piss me off.~)

Just take hundreds of plasters and stuck them all over the place, getting a good coverage will ensure you can't go wrong

Wow, some tough stuff to do there. Did you troubleshoot the problems alone or with the group that is vying for the same position.

what do you mean "only be ?????????60,000" [lol] Dude, I'm on a ?????????5,200 ($9,700) salary, with no bonuses... although I guess I'm just an apprentice, but jeez! my mom earns ?????????50,000 ($93,000) a year roughly, and she's been a headteacher for god knows how many years! If you're gonna be earning ?????????60,000 ($111,600) as a STARTING salary! jesus, that's damn cushty!... will you buy me stuff? [lol]

Seriously though, good luck with that man, that's a really good opportunity that most of us on here can only dream of!

it was alone with one of the assesors and one of the qualified engineers. half of the problems were a on the day such as the restraint problems on the enterprise and the other staged and done delibratly like the snapped chain on G-Forse. true they didnt go easy on us but i expected that because as an interviewie i must show that i can work hard under stress and use my intuition.

?????????60,000 a year, ok is alot but its only half of the full pay at the end of the training and i was trying to play it down a bit so none of you feel jelous at my god fortune, even if i dont get the job i still consider it to be good fortune as i managed to get to the last 5 out of 200 applicants.

ohh and thanks to six flag fiesta, the chat on msn we had was a massive help and the advise on the common problems with the huss rides was most helpfull and also on the rapids problems. thanks again.

please dont think of me as a wimp or somthing but this morning i was in tears because drayton called me up at 10:30 to offer me the position of apprentice engineer. ive been in the offices this after noon for about 5 hour and i start october after the last day of the season.

i am so happy, i have today handed in my resegnation from my current job and i finish one week friday so i will have a few months to do what i want befor i start.

many thanks to sixflagsfiesta as some of the things you told me according to the owner of drayton manor just pushed me over the edge, he said "you have done some reasurch and i was impressed with your knolage of the equipment you was using and working on".

thanks for all of your support
