I wonder though ... I ask for round wheels and it generates three pages of why everyone's comp's cannot handle them (all negative -- nothing positive, just a bunch of "it cannot be done"). Yet, those who suggest 4d Flyers get no flack at all, but just the opposite -- the drooling begins over some low res, pos, B/W, faded and manipulated pics. Although, I am sure there is nothing extra needed to create 4d flyers ... right fellas? yeah, I am sure those are flyers. <yet another eye roll>

Funny thing is, it almost sounds like I am at work when I give an order for something to be done (because I can roll like that) and I get to hear the junior ranking kiddies grumble about why they can't do it -- instead of stepping up the plate and taking care of business. I thought this was a thread expressing wishes for the new NL? Hmmmm, guess I read it wrong.

Yeah, I think the majority of people would rather have a new train style than perfectly round wheels. Besides, why do you need perfectly round wheels when you can't even see them while riding? Hardly ever do I see anyone complain about how the B&M invert's have no wheels.

one thing i think would be simple but nice to have is larger footers for steel coasters, they're so short!

Build your own 3ds ones. That's what I always do, I got sick of those horrible grey squares. It's not a lot of work, just a few minutes to place them all ontop of the NL footers. (Maybe a bit longer with terrain, but still not much of a differnce)

footers,

they should make them at least 4 feet high or someting, not a half inch, and if you want them bigger you can always place them next to each other

I would rather have catwalks, trees, stations, and footers that didn't look so flat rather than wheels that are 128 sided, which is obviously just a pointless waste of polygons.

Anyways, I think 4D's are a bit pointless (unless they at least have a good system for editing rotations), flyers are ok. I would rather see arrow hypers and suspendeds though, and muiltiple coasters per scene. (but if that is to happen they're going to have to find a way to lower the base detail of those models)

I expect that if there is a 4d the rotation will be controlled similarly to the way the banking is. It'd probably have a seperate toolbar containing the buttons, as well as a manual number input and a display for the current value.

Wait, is that in favor of a 4D? Because A 4D would be impossible to heartline, there's nothing over the center of the track. A flyer would be like .2 m.

X is heartlined, it's just hard to see because it's like 0.3m. And I think flyers have a larger heartline than 0.2m. Look at this: http://www.rcdb.com/ig1458.htm?picture=5 Considering the track is about 1.2m wide, the heartline looks like it will be more like 0.4 to 0.6m.

Well it's going to need a good way to preview what the cars and what the on ride will look like while you're editing. I wouldn't want it to be more tedious than it needs to be.

Sure, you can have 100% appearing circular wheels. Kiss your FPS away ...

I doubt it. It might have the white outline when you run it in the editor, but that's even worse than the sim because you can't speed it up. (Even more so because of the gentle gradient and slow speed of 4d lift hills) And anyways, all this is assuming there will even be 4d's in this update.

Anyways, on the 4D coaster there is some degree of heartlining that can be done (whether it technically is or not, the principle of the idea is there) so you heartlining enthusiests will have something to chew if and when it does become available in either the next update, or the next game all together.

The whole Idea of heartlining a 4d is pointless....It doesent work with both side of the train sticking out like that. You can heartline it for one side or another...But both doesent work. Its a little like the idea of heartlining on a dive machine, as you can see in this pic, http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/gallery ... a_i6.shtml , The only the middle 3 or 4 seats get the smooth heartline, the outside seats get pulled up or pushed down when you come through this turn. Understand?

Yes, heartlining does make a difference on 4d's. You are right, it does still push and pull on each side of the train. But, if it wasn't heartlined, the riders would be pushed away from the track when it rotates because of the rotational forces pushing you away from the centre of the rotation. If the centre of rotation is at the same height (Not above or below, as would be on an un-heartlined coaster) as the riders, then there will be no additional G's forcing you away from the track. So no, heartlining isn't pointless on a 4d, it is just does less than it would on a B&M sitdown, for example.

Does it really take away the enjoyment of a ride if you cannot heartline it? Oh my... Does it matter!
