This is a very personal topic and very off discussion but I know that a lot of the people of CC and WWS are very mature understanding people. Ok heres what happend, my ex-girfriend calls me and says she might have an STD because her tounge had bumps and looked like it was burnt or worse, I havent seen it, but shes not making it up. We had oral sex and nothing else but also there was another girl last summer about a year ago, that I also had oral sex with, I am affraid that I may have an STD but also I have no symptoms and never have, Ive always felt healthy and perfect and no physical symptoms either. I am scared that I may have passed it on, as long as I don't have anything then Its all set. But my initall question is, IS IT POSSIBLE TO GIVE AN STD AND NOT HAVE SYMPTOMS AFTER A WHOLE YEAR BUT GIVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE AND THEY GET SYMPTOMS ABOUT 1.5-2 MONTHS LATER? Please people help me answer this, I am scared and she is supposedly getting tested, I am a good kid, I work hard gets A's and B's I don't do any drugs and I love all my friends and family with all my heart, you guys rock too!, please help me with whatever sense or advice or ideas or thoughts etc.
Thanks, Raigod,

I actually think that you can get STD's transmitted from mouth to mouth, i am almost 100% sure.

This is from a parent man -- so hopefully you take this to heart.

Go to a doctor and quit trying to self diagnose yourself. If you have a good relationship with your folks explain what is up and go. Again, stop trying to self diagnose and let a doctor run some blood work and check you out. And yes, STDs (to include HIV) are transmitted by the exchange of body fluids.

"Though there's admittedly less risk of STIs in oral sex than in vaginal or anal sex, the risk still exists. You can get a bacterial infection of chlamydia, syphilis or gonorrhea in your mouth and/or throat, and in some rarer occasions, can develop genital warts in the mouth. Herpes is commonly passed between genitals and the mouth, and HIV can be passed through cuts in the mouth or small abrasions."

This is from the site http://www.pamf.org/teen/sex/std/oral/# ... and%20STIs

Good luck

Well, during this past school year I had a unit on STD's in biology. Here's stuff right out of my notes.

Herpes Simplex Virus 1
-Oral-facial lesions
-primarily responsible for infection on mouth although can infect genitals

Herpes Simplex Virus 2
-Genital herpes
-primarily responsible for infection on genitals although can infect mouth

Symptoms
-inflamation
-small red bumps that turn into blisters
-during initial outbreak symptoms will be much the same as those associated with flu syndrome (fever, chills, etc.)

Between outbreaks lies dormant in nerve cells.

Ok, so this is the stuff out of my notes, but it does not mean that it's what either of you have.

a trip to the doctor to get tested is what you need to do. sure your parents are going to be upset initially but if you are honest they will not hesitate to help you. hiding it and trying to solve the problem yourself is only going to make matters worse and if your parents found out on their own, they would be way more upset than if you had just told them.

it might not be an STD as much as it could just be bacteria. after all it is in quite a, ahem, dirty area. if it is an STD, it sounds fairly non-lethal and if she has caught it early enough treatment will be much easier. i strongly suggest you both to get tested, no matter how parents react. they want to keep you safe and they were our age once too, they'll understand.

I remember reading somewhere that saliva actually has this enzyme in it that prevents STD's from being contracted, but I highly suggest you get tested. Then you either won't have to worry about it if you don't have it, and if you do, you can get it taken care of and at least treated.

Also, it is really impossible for you to have any STD's, unless you contracted it from another "experience" or from your parents if they had it when your mother had you. STD's don't just develop over night. It would probably be a good idea to have her see her doctor as well.

Good luck.

Also, we should talk on AIM sometime, you live pretty close to me and you are nearly the same age.

Again good luck bro.

t.j might come down on me hard for this, but planned parenthood will do this screening for free, if you have misgivings about asking your family doctor. they will keep the information confidential. yes, an std can be passed from private ares to the mouth and visa versa. herpes is an std, but not really a venereal disease. like 80 % of everyone has oral herpes, but we call the outbreaks "cold sores" the , um, well , "other" herpes that's the one that sucks. it can damage you emotionaly more than physicaly, not to mention make you hoarse from screaming at a girl who specificaly lied about something specificaly asked about certain people they've been"freinds with" .. and it makes your kidneys ache and your lymph nodes in that area swell up and become painful.wait.... just read what woodie said.. forget what i said...
in any case get yourself to the clinic, find out what it is before you panic.if it's nothing, then you don't have to freak your parents out.. if it's herpes, it won't "kill " you, but you'll want to be able to tell your doctor when you have your next check up. if it's something else it's very likely that it's something that can be treated if it's dealt with right away.
do it now, don't wait....

Actually, mouth to genital is one of the more common way to contract an STD. If I were you, i'd see a doctor soon and find out if you really do. Hopefully, its a treatable one and if they catch it fast enough, they could actually cure it, depending on the STD.

I did a little research, and you cannot contract an STD from making out or kissing, but from oral sex, it is possible

Remember when you woke up in the middle of the street in tijuana naked surrounded by all the bums and how they were licking you as fresh meat? Remember what happened before you got there? [lol]

Ok update:
My ex went to the doctor she didnt get tested but it was examined, the doctor said its probably NOT an STD but theres a SMALL chance that it might be, and remember I have never had symptoms and I still dont, I looked it up. I have no symptoms....

I know there are diseases that carry no symptoms but also wouldnt the STDS match up and everyone including me and her have the same symptoms, and plus the only disease that doesnt break out until like 6 months is HIV.

That is TOTALLY incorrect. HIV can lay dormant for 15 years before it is detectable. Listen man, go see a doctor and get the facts for yourself before you think one day you are fine and end up contaminating others without knowing. Geesh ....

I got gonorrhea (oral thrush) from kissing once, although she didnt chew on my shaft[lol].
Why can't everyone just wear rubber, that what its there for. Im 16 and every time anything oral related comes along, i am safe and use a condom. Its simple! I've never had a problem apart from that gonorrhea in my throat, and that was from kissing.
But seriously it could have been worse if we did oral without rubber, and im glad i used one.
Key Word = Trojan.
Simple.
