Why does the "overwrite" feature exist in Microsoft Word? It seems like I accidentally activate it a ton and it's rather aggravating when I do so. I don't really see a useful purpose for it aside from nudging me closer to suicide. Anyone else agree?

If you were using Apple's Pages instead of Word, you wouldn't have to worry about that, now would you?

It always sucks when you accidentally overwrite something, I had my 'wanting to kill the computer' moments lots of times.

I think whatever software package you have on whatever computer you have it on, it'll always bring you one step closer to suicide!

It's funny to see that the "Windows vs Mac" disscusion returns in every topic about soft- or hardware

Even though I agree with you, there was no reason to bring that up...

I think you can turn it off, don't you press ctrl?
