Jeez, bowzer, he really doesn't have to since he's a member of the boards. And technically, he's not in your face. If he's doing something that's annoying you, look at it from a sensible point of view and see that you are way too sensitive to such actions. Grow a thicker skin and get on with your life. Or blow up at him. That would be fun.

It really doesn't bother me Myriad, it's actually fun because I can use the oppurtunity to make throw some pwnage back at him after months of insults from him!

how do you feel about gay rollercoaster weddings?

In complete honesty, I despise them. Why?

Well, Father's Day at Cedar Point has become something of an annual "Gay Day". I kid you not. At any point within the park, you can see tons and tons of homosexual male couples enjoying eachother's company. I don't have much of a problem with this normally. A few years ago, however, I was waiting in line at Millennium Force. I had gotten up to the station and would have been on in several trains, but there was a couple ahead of us who had apparently planned a marriage on the coaster. Hence, I waited an extra fifteen minutes and wasn't particularly thrilled that my day had been delayed as such. Oh well. That's what a season pass is for.

[lol][lol][lol][lol][lol][lol][lol][lol]... out of all the people who could see that some one actually has an experience to base their opinion on.. CLASSIC.. i was just trying to be ironic..

I have another experience. We were on our way to a show in NYC one time and were held up by a GAY PARADE crossing the street! Made us miss a good 15 minutes.

Quite frankly, you need to recheck your definition of "pwnage". All I've seen from you two thus far tonight is idiotic and childish behavior. And to be honest, that sort of "fun" has no place whatsoever in a thread like this.

If you truly do enjoy making yourself look worse, I suggest setting up a "Flame Bowser" thread. For one thing, you'd be guaranteed tons of participation on the behalf of the WWS/CC community. [;)]

hehe.. now this is my kind of topic.....

personally, i belive that in this country, considering the separation between church and the government, everyone has the same rights when it boils down to it. now, a "marraige" as i was taught is a union of a man and a woman under god. now, considering that in most cultures and countries, marraige is a religious union so personally, i dont see why it's legally recognized anyway. now, with that out of the way, i say equal rights for everyone, so if you're going to give special rights (marraige) to those of us who want a christian marraige (one man and one woman) you should also grant those rights to anyone who wants them, regardless of who it is. so in conclusion, i belive that in order to not descriminate, we should recognize all relationships (between consenting, able minded adults) or simply not recognize any of them, just to be fair. now, i'm not saying to put a ban on marraige, i'm simply saying that you should still be able to get religiously married depending on how your religion works, but when it comes to the legal stuff, equal rights for everyone.

"you don't really need to get married to show you love a person."

technically, you do. if (god forbid) your lover is terminally ill in the hospital, the hospital has the legal right to keep you from seeing them if the immediate family doesnt want you there and the person is too ill to comment. also, should your partner die, even if you've lived together for 10 years, all of their belongings would go to their next of kin (not you) unless they specified in a will that you get everything..... but a lawyer can override wills. so being legally married helps a lot. that's why i say to give everyone the LEGAL rights, and leave the religious crap to the religions.

I cannot believe I actually read that. To clarify for your own ignorance: If it is a one man and one woman wishing to be married, I will gladly marry them to each other with the proper state license in hand.

On another thought, I pray I get to be around you the day the light bulb comes on in your head and you actually get a clue. Because, in your present state you are certainly no shining light of intelligence to represent mankind. I see your lame view of trying to hint at my being prejudiced, but your overall stupidity lacks even the general ability to draw logical conclusions. Honestly ... I have pity on you.

Oh, YEAH. Woo, nothing like a pastor of a church that has compassion, understanding, tolerance, and open-mindedness. I hope you don't talk to members of your congregation that way!
...and folks wonder why it's so hard to get people to go to church!

Beautiful!

So, being open minded means you dont have a stance on anything? If I remember correctly, Christ tolerated VERY little. Remind me, if being a christian is to be like Christ and He was, to you, supposedly very tolerant and open minded, why was it again that He was persecuted to NO end then killed?

Again, I think you have missed Christs point all together.

Bowser ... wow ... you really have no idea. Jesus was not tolerant, he was not leniant, he was JUST. That is a verb, not a noun, look it up sometime. Here, I will save you the time:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=define%3Ajust

Our congretgation needs me to be this way and our church membership and attendance has grown since I have been there 1 year this week. They need me to be the example that you can love a person, but NOT accept their lifestyle (this is the definition of the word "compromise"). However, I would not expect your proven immaturity here to comprehend such a spiritual matter as that - so no offense is taken by your slighting comments.

We have a clear message on our webpage, it says: " ... our church is focused on standing for the Word of God, without compromising any of it for the sake of the world."
Source: http://www.bbcmarbury.com/Welcome.htm

This means we stand on the Bible, and we do not sugar coat and condone lifestyle "choices". We open our hearts to people, but you will not see any gay weddings happening anytime while I am in the pulpit at my church.

There was no room to compromise when Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10: "Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers--none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God."

Compromise is not an option ... I do not think it could be stated any clearer than that. Again, I would not expect you to be able to comprehend the spiritual understanding of this, but one day, perhaps you will.

Coaster, my longtime friend ... I cannot seperate Jesus from my life, so please, do not ask me to do so by asking I leave Him out of this. I follow Him, therefore, I strive to be like Him. Legal rights or not ... different views or not ... it is what it is.

sorry man, but i just have to laugh at this:

"There was no room to compromise when Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10: "Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers--none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God.""

so, sexual sin...thats masturbation right? that rules out the entire popultion, except for children whose lives are cut short. so, that means, all that is in the kingdom of heaven is god and jesus babysitting a crapload of annoying children.

oh, and tcon, the "Coaster, my longtime friend ... I cannot seperate Jesus from my life, so please, do not ask me to do so by asking I leave Him out of this. I follow Him, therefore, I strive to be like Him. Legal rights or not ... different views or not ... it is what it is." i can respect that...but you wont win anything in the court rooms etc. by doing that.

Gay marraige has been legal here in Canada for a couple months now. Since t became legal, the amounbt of couple geting married had dropped by atleat 75%. Everybody who wanted gay marriag has gotten it. I have no problem whatsoever with it. I don't agree with it, but they, (like many have already said in this thread) should and are (in Canada at least) entitles to marry the ones they love.

Um, no, it does not mean masturbation, it refers to sleeping around.

I don't want to win anything in court on this issue, I assure you. The law does not allow for gay marriages, therefore, I have nothing to go to court for. However, should for some reason the law change, every church has the right to refuse to perform any kind of ceremony. Remenber the whole separation of church and state? No state can force a church to do anything except pay taxes. Ah, what a wonderful law. ;-)

For example, just because someone wants to get married, does not mean I have to perform the ceremony. Even for a regular marriage ceremony there are schedules to consider, availability of the preacher, is anything else going on at the church, etc. Even if the law changes where gay marriage is legal - I will not be taking part in it. Again, I will not compromise the Word of God to make this world happy.

Remember again the separation of church and state ...

This is a subject i feel strongly about, so im gonna argue back, sorry. Im really young, yes, 15, but im comfortably gay (i dont know how many people knew on this site actually, ECG mentioned it a few pages back), and have many gay friends, and i post on gay forums and write articles and stuff. One thing i have to make clear first, just because you;re gay, doesnt mean you're camp. There were a few homophobic posts on the first page, and it just seems these people are misled, and seem to think everyone is like this (not that theres anything wrong with beinjg camp of course). My ex for example, you wouldnt guess he was, in fact you wouldnt guess i was. He is an extremely tallented soccer player, and one other gay friend i have is extremely good at rugby. Just a point, that i think needs mentioning to all those immature assholes out there.

Anyway, TCON when you quote that section of the bible (sorry man, im not religious at all), dont you think some of these ideas are a little out dated? No disrespect and all, its just, that passage seems to suggest every single person on Earth at this very moment, is commiting sexual sin. Things change with time. Im sure you're church has an "Idol worshipper" in. So why not a homosexual? I dont get it. Maybe im young and naive... Im not really argueing with this, its just a wondering.

Anyway, i really dont know why i started talking about that in the first place, as there are Gay christian branches and if i actually chose to be religious, then i would join one of these. But im not religious, and if i wanted to get "married" to a partner, it would obviously just be a partnership for me, nothing religious.

Anyway, my main concern was a few pages back, people argueing that people are born gay, or arent born gay. Now, in my opinion, this cant really be answered, but from my experience, i would have to say a total different thing, you are born with no particular sexual attraction, and then through puberty, your mind becomes curious and you kind of develop your sexuality. Thats what i feel happened to me anyway, i mean, i did go out with girls and stuff (in fact, the last time i was with a girl was on friday [:(] but i was "under the influence" and was nearly passed out so its ok.) but was never sexually attracted to them. This to me explains why gay guys can like girls, but are never actually sexually attrracted to them. Of course, alot of people disagree with me, its just my opinion.

EDIT: Btw Tcon, i respect you for standing by the church, and never letting your ideas faulter. I personally think you DO have a right to refuse to marry a homosexual couple, as if your religion does not agree with this, and you have devoted yourself to that religion, you shouldnt go back on something you believe in.

P.S. sorry im struggling to write my thoughts down here. [|)][:p]

Seems you present a pretty decent, articulated argument JPE -- something I am refreshed to see and perhaps others can take a lesson from you. I am glad you joined the chatter here, and yes, I did know your status.

As far as the bible being outdated ... well, it is either all or nothing. Hebrews 13:8 says "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow." Therefore, the date of the publication not-withstanding ... if He remains the same, so are the principles He taught.
