Hey,

I was looking around in the track exchange last days, and I found out that theres very much overrating latety. I know we have to give rates, but its getting annoing.

Some tracks:

http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchang ... ?tid=10397
It pumps, bumbs and humps all around the track, still it gets a high rate.

http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchang ... ?tid=10358
Totaly unexplained rate. And way overrated

http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchang ... ?tid=10357
Very bad track, also pumps and bums, not even worth a 4

http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchang ... ?tid=10377
Not a bad track, but to many mistakes to get a 9. Even camelbacks aren't straight.

I know that many of my complains could be discused, but I think its time we THINK before we rate, cuss rates made by noobs aren;t realy usefull.

Unless we start some sort of rule limiting who can and can't rate, then I don't think there's much we can do about this. The most I could suggest is increasing the minimum characters needed for a rate that includes numbers, so that at least then people would have to write a bit more detail.

@WWS. If you guys promis to check it every day, i'll report more. Its just imppolsible to do all that checking.

I agree with Wing_over that the min char must be taken to a higehr level, or someway your forced to say constructive and negative things abouth the ride. But that would be a hell of a job to make.

we've incremented it before, I think there would be even less rates coming in, which would get rid of the lazy from rating but then have more posts in the forum why no one rates their coasters. It's a trade off. I am open to suggestions.

we cannot promise to check everyday, I mean the site is busy enough as is for us. Also staff is busy with real life, we have one moving from one country to another, another that works 16 + hours a day, another who is busy all day with the hosting and networking of the site and works for SF, another one who is still without a computer, another admin who is love struck and has busted a GFA on us and then there's me who I too work a whole lot of hours and try to do the best I can.

Hey, I would love to check the complain area everyday. I just can't remove rates or whatever(hint...hint).

Well, about the rateing system, I have an idea, but I don't know how difficult it is to make.

When you want to rate you get to chose 2 things:

-Comment
-Rate

-When you chose comment a window will open where you can type your comment. You have no posibility to give points, just a comment.

-When you chose rate a rating window will open. It'll have 4 text blocks. 1 for Tech, 1 for Adr. and 1 for Org. Under every block you can give a number for that area. The 4th block is for other comments with can not be given in the other blocks. You'll have to type 50 char. in every window. Poins, comma's ect. are excluded. Then you are realy forced to give a good rate.

Its quitte a big and hard to use system, but once we're used we have way better rates. If someone is able to make this we could also aplie it for a week, hold a poll about our oppinions and keep it if it realy works.

Well, that what I have in mind.

I know that the first ride you are mentioning with "It pumps, bumbs and humps all around the track, still it gets a high rate." does not deserve to be here. I liked that ride and gave it a rating that i saw fit. Have you ridden it? I thought it was smooth and was fun ride. Dont be an ass just because other people liked the ride you big weenie.

Why reinvent the wheel and build it in a harder way when now if you leave the rating at default it leaves a comment only and if you chose rting value it adds the number, we'd get the same result your way.

PS my RCT-3-Crazy friend. The point of ratings is for everyone to put down THEIR opinion, just because you dont agree doesn't mean that you get to have their rates erased. Someone is jealous and it shows, get something better to do then bash on people that made fun rides and were rated accordingly.

Yes, I've riden it, more then 10 times. If you take a close look, theres wuitte much pumpijng on very vertex. You just don't see it direct becasue of the long control points. Smoothness is not to bad, but the lead ins/outs make it bumb through the turns. Listen I might not be as good as Wing_over ect. But even I can reconize pumping.

I think I can better stop trying to get a better way to rate/ higher quality, since I have the feeling that I'm getting quitte much enemy's.

enemies? perinocious or whatever he spells his name as? I only supplied you with stuff that you wanted that already exists. Suggestions are welcomed and if those are in place I merely pointed it out, sorry you took it as an offense.

I really dont make a big deal over it, if i turn without massive jerks then its fine with me, it is a video game after all. If you think the ride is overrated then simply rate it with your rating. Your opinions help the builder as much as ours.

The problem isn't the system. It's the user's. That's like blaming a car accident on alchahol. The beer didn't crash the car, the moron behind the wheel did. There is nothing you can do to force people to rate properly. There are going to be good raters and there are going to be bad. Life sucks, get over it. If you really feel the coaster should be rated lower, rate it yourself in a fair way and express your opinion in a civil matter. You don't need to rate it 0.5 across the board because you want the coaster's average rate to go down. That's so childish it's not even funny.

Just my $0.02

All you have to do is report the overrate. I've reported a large sum of them and I don't think any have been overlooked. Also report stolen tracks. You guys just comment STOLEN TRACK!!!!11!!one11!!! You need to report it, the admins can't look at every single track that gets posted.

How about we abolish the rating system completely...instead of rates, have a different sort of system, that rates like "Excellent, Good, Fair"...and so on and so on...but still can be commented.

hay..... WHO CARES? does it really matter?... these people posted their honest opinion, based on what they thought of the ride.. that's different than someone just trashing a ride to be mean. are you serious, you want to be the guy who busts people for giving higher marks than you would, and basicaly tell them "sorry your opinion doesn't count?".. you mean , you'd set time aside for THAT? come on.... [lol][lol][lol]

Well, without completely changing the rating system, I think the easiest idea might be to hire a few more mods, who are just in charge of maintaining the exchange. Might take some of the workload off the other mods, and allow reported ratings to be fixed sooner.

you dont need anyone. People rate rides the way they want too. The purpose of a rating if for you to display your opinion. You guys that want ride rateings rweset are...well...communist. if something is not the way you think it should be then you want it your way because heaven forbbid someone thought a ride was better then you did, personally i think most of you guys UNDER rate rides. Grow up and realize that just because you may think one way doesn't mean that everyone else thinks the same.

There's nothing wrong with people sharing their opinions, but it's when those opinions aren't justified that there's a problem. Have you noticed most of the rates RCT-3-Crazy pointed out are only 2-3 lines long, and one of them even needs filler text to make up the 50 chars? If someone wrote a highly detailed and well-explained rate on one of those rides but gave the same numbers, people wouldn't mind nearly as much. They might be not agree with the numbers, but they would hardly complain or ask for the rate to be removed because that person would have explained why he/she gave those numbers. The extra mods would be to remove poorly explained rates, not ones that are too high or too low.

a much better explanation then what people were giving. I was under the impression that people simply thought rides were over rated and wanted then to be reset, not throughly reviewed. Sometimes though there just isn't enough time to make a big-azz review.

This really is a problem caused by people not using the entire 0.5-10 rating scale. A lot of people don't use below 7.
