I found this while browsing through the various lands of teh intarwebs, and stumbled upon a rather cool tool, an on screen ruler... quite nice for straight edges and measuring stuff (well duh, its a ruler)

Its helping me alot with the lateral supports for Pressure... making sure they're all the same length and what not... anyway...

ps- it says the pro version costs 20$, but you can run it without it asking for money[lol]

Looks pretty convinient for image editing too, though the image editors usually tell you the selections.
