Can someone please explain every thing to me in good detail. I got No Limits about a week ago and I have tried countless times to make a good roller coaster but I just cant. I need some help.

It takes time. I have had a half a year with it and I STILL suck at it.

I've had nl for half a year now, and im still not very good...just keep messing around with it. Eventually you'll start to pick stuff up.

Nobody said it'd be easy. I've been building on No Limits since it first came out (back when telephone numbers were single digits), and I still suck. The interesting thing about it that keeps me going on it is how it's practically a professional design tool, unlike Scream Machines or Hyperrails or RCT. I could easily see a coaster company using this program to create the very first draft of a coaster design.

Just keep at it. You'll get better.

and you allways will [lol]

cedarpointman, have you been trough the basic tutorial yet? it's good to find your way around NL, after that, CoasterSims.com might have some other ones. But the basic rule of NL is to screw around and you'll eventually get better at it. And upload coasters, better is to let them test by some people here at the site

I've had it for years now and have never completed a coaster I was happy with. I don't know how to use the smoother and other tools, and I likely never will. I think it's one of those things you have a knack for or you don't.

What i do sometimes is download tracks and if I saw there was a error on a re-creation so I always tryed to fix it. I eventually just started one day just picked it right up!

It is not so bad. I have had NL since 2003 I believe and I was always told that it was hard, mainly from people who only play UR or RCT. But then I decided to give it a serious try and I realized that they were all wrong. You have to go slow with it. I haven't tried using the tools yet, I just work on one element until it looks and feels right to me. The only way to know you are progressing is to post a coaster and take the advice of skilled builders here.

One thing though if you have ever used a CAD editor or a program like Adobe Illustrator that uses vector shapes, you might catch on to NL a little easier because the control points and vectors in Illustrator work just like the vertices in NL. Practice, practice, practice! [;)]

as will you.

I've gottens significantly better with it after almost 3 years of experience, I'm starting to get the tools down too.

I have been playing NL since like 2003 I think. It took a good year before I got it down, but I still have some issues with transitions and leveling out hills. The best trick I can think of it you ever have a troublesome transition is to go into 3D track mode and run over the transition, then back up, adjust it a bit, run over it again, adjust, and just keep doing that until it's smooth. If it doesn't smooth after a little bit, go to overhead view and move the whole section a bit, then try again. Like someone said, you have to take it slowly.
