If its an LCD than you cant replace a "bulb" in it. You will just have to replace it or return it to dell. Dell sucks anyways so no wonder it doesnt work..
well yea you can replace the "bulb" or ccfl, its just very hard and I cannot get into the actual display itself to take it out. and I don't mean opening up the housing (I've gotten past that), I mean the panel containing the film and lamp and everything that is the actual display.
Appearently Dell doesn't like people disassembling their stuff
anyway, the thing isn't even mine. I got it from a neighbor who offered it to me for free to see if I wanted to fix it. It's actually a nice display too. Its also a tv, supposedly it can get up to 1080i according to the spec page, even though that'd be pointless since its a 17" widescreen. the best I think I could get and have it look good is 720p... maybe
