Sounds cool, a lot of standard songs in your line-up, but I'm not saying that to condemn at all! It's a lot of fun to play that stuff (hence my doing pep band year after year).

Anyhow, my "marching band" (ie drum corps) show won't be announced for quite some time...lol, stay tuned.

my lineup:
i dont know yet

this week (tomorrow): carry on wayward sun, school's out (bad timing)
next week:i think holiday by greenday (for a band? wtf?) and rock arounf the clock or some other song

next next week i think we have our pit percussion halftimer (oye como va (sp?))

and then i dont know

but whatever, i'm on tenors/quads/quints/marching toms now after cymbals last year, and that's all that matters

but its cool that your doing chameleon - love that song (and brick house too)

Land of Make Believe is a good song - we played it my 10th grade year in jazz band. Were gonna bring it back this year.

It's a fun song, but my least favorite of the three.

my high school's show this year is called Minimally Speaking. we suck this year though because director went to another high school in the area and left us with nothing. we were the best funded high school band until this year. we were going to go to the sugar bowl but we dont have enough money anymore. the only good thing really is that the new band director is a percussionist, so thats good for all of us on the drumline, which sucks this year as well. not the people, but the amount of people now. last year we had 11 people in the battery and i dont know how many in pit. now we have 5 people in the battery and 4 in the pit. gay.

hepta you guys copied our show last year lol

we had el gato triste, children of sanchez, and land of make believe one night

the drumline actually memorizes the music, but since its a private school, our band members are lazy, and they need their music, some even ned it for the fight song and alma matter

there's nothing difficult about it, but we have people in our band that don't care if they play well or know the music or whatever and it just sucks for the rest of us

thats true, there are people like that everywhere, and it does suck. especially when they are on snare or tenors because its really obvious when they dont care or know their music, so it makes everyone else look bad.

well. i gotta say that there's aN awesome selection of music here. i'm a huge fan of early funk. well herbie hancock's chameleon isn't really "funk" per se, as he's well known as a jazz artist, but if anything was to be refered as a funk album on par with "take it to the stage" or the shaft soundtrack, it'd be "headhunters" one of my favorite albums of all time, the album from which chameleon was taken. that must be rad hearing a marching band do it, espescially that bass line, (bar bar bar bumbumbum.. du du du du derderder) that bass line was done on an arp odyssey, model 2800 ( i own one and it's my baby). always keep in mind that this awesome music was originally performed by highly accomplished musicians , and not just novelty music from the early 70's ..... end music snob rant....
right on, i'd sure like to hear that.
