Been on one of the tracks in WDW, can't remember which, though. Kind of boring, if you ask me.

i think SM is tons of fun! no big thrills, but a terrific ride for familys and still a very fun ride for us thrill seekers.

Yes, the one at Magic Mountain. It kinda sucks, I thought. LONG line, bad ride. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or whatever was REALLY lame, though. It had two lift hills, no drops, just turns...so I was waiting for something to happen, then it goes into this steep cave going up really steep, so I'm thinking "FINALLY!", and...it starts to tip down, and...the train ventures into a SHALLOW HELIX. I was not pleased.

I've ridden each track at WDW at least twice. (btw they are identical, just mirror clones).

First of all, it's not either, it's any. Secondly, I've been on every non-asian SM, and the Paris one is BY FAR AND AWAY the best. It puts the others to shame. Best theme development, best layout, best maintenance, best atmosphere, best everything.

i been to the one in Paris, and at california. Paris was by far the best, cuz of the launch from the cannon buisness. I rode it before the upgrade on it though... i really wanna ride it again now

Have you ridden before or after the update?

I think the update really helps the ride, the launch is much longer and more forceful, and there are some great onride effects later, too. But I prefered the previous theme because it fitted better into Discoveryland in a way.

Just to be fair when you're comparing WDW Space Mountain to Paris's you're comparing a 1975 Arrow (one of the oldest steel tube coasters still in operation) to a 1995 Vekoma looper. Which one is better is not surprising.

WDW Space Mountain is the second steel tube coaster built by Arrow and WED, after the Matterhorn (largely considered to be the first steel tube coaster ever built). Because of its success they built a second one in Disneyland (the first ride to be built first in WDW and brought back to Disneyland) but because of space constraints the Disneyland version was only to have one track. In light of this Arrow took the opportunity to spread out the layout a little and re-calculate some of its curves and transitions (one Imagineer remembers these calculations taking a powerful computer of the day well overnight to complete). Many people consider the Disneyland version to be better for this reason.

Because of this and other reasons (cost, mostly) the Disneyland version is the one duplicated for Disneyland Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Someday, I'll ride the Paris one.

EDIT: P.S. that overnight calculation was for just 1 curve, not the entire ride.
Be sure you're not looking in a mirror before you start pointing fingers.

I've been on WDW's Space Mountain. I still love it even though it has a low top speed.

I have been on the one at Disneyland in Anaheim. It ROCKS! The best effects on a roller coaster I have ever seen.

I've been on MK's and DL's. I gotta say MK's is very outdate and could use an update on everything. As cool as the retroness of the ride is, I think it deserves something new and special for being the first. DL's is silky smooth and you get some good forces towards the end, although it could have used some direction changes at the end as well instead of left turn, strait, left turn, strait, left turn.....
