It's been a while since we've had a politics thread, and a lot has happened. So, may the debating begin.

Feel free to be as headstrong and straightforward as possible, but please refrain from all flaming and general immaturity. (If you're under 16, I'd suggest you stay out of this thread unless you are politically aware and/or can at least make us think you're over 16.)

Are you serious? Lol dude, you can't expect people under 16 to actually listen to you. And furthermore, what are you going to get out of this besides a whole muble jumble of people babbling? Its called the INTERNET! It's a huge dirty porn-filled blabber chamber that twists the minds of innocent little pre-pubescents all over the world and is one of the leading causes of arrogance today.

Having said that I do have some thoughts...[:D]

For once, I've seen something in politics that I totally agree with, and it was started by a man named Bill Clinton. Yes, I'm talking about his Clinton Global Initiative. The idea is very clever imo - take a bunch of private citizens (not political leaders, cause we all know they'll never get along) and have em pledge to do something for the betterment of various problems in the world today. Hey, it's basically the most modern form of the rich giving back to the poor. Do you see anything wrong with that? I don't...

Speaking of Clinton, did he actually do more then to stop al quida then what the current bush adminstration has? I doubt it. Seems like he's just trying to make himself sound like a better president, imo. I really don't know why he's doing it. I guess he feels like he has to prove something since that ABC miniseries showed some "negative" things that he did regaurding terrorism. That's my opinion of it anyways.

you gotta remeber that al-quaida wasn't as great a threat during his term as it is now, so naturally he wouldn't try as hard to stop it as this administration is (or seems like it is [:p]).

nevertheless, he's here now doing something good, and he's getting so many other wealthy people to do good with him.

Yes, I can clearly see how it is the government's responsibility to force private citizens to do what they may or may not choose to do already, especially at literally half of the apparent effeciency of doing it without buraeucratic intervention. Good move! Obviously this is one of the fundamental functions of government.

I promise you that the Global Initiative (or insert whatever fancy program you're thinking of here) is just another way for politicians to gain popularity by falsly promoting "feel good" concepts that they have no real motivation to pass. It's all just a clever ploy to take citizens' eyes off of the real issues, such as the abuse of government spending and the massive problems in all government programs.

The problem with our government in this era is that it's a self-feeding monster controlled by the politicians.

wel i think that everyone should vote for me. i'll give everybody icecream and then i'll just amaze everyone by pulling world peace out of my ass. then i'll just make sure that anyone who has a job gives half of their pay to anyone who doesn't have a job, and then there won't be any more poverty. then i'll just call up all the world leaders and make them allllll promise to be nice to each other for always and forever. then i'll send the space shuttle up with all the visclean and duct tape left over because there won't be any mor terrorists and patch that nasty hole in the ozone layer and take everyone's car keys away. i'll pull the army out of iraq and send them up to the north and south poles with freezers and keep an around the clock team making icecubes and throwing them in the ocean to stop global warming. and then, just to make sure nothing bad ever happens again i'll outlaw religion... so remember.. vote for JAYMAN.

^[lol] JAY 2008

^^You have to give them the benefit of the doubt though because until you can see inside their mind and see their true intentions, you can never accuse them of that. But I do see where you're coming from and why it seems like just a clever ploy, and it probably is. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that they aren't doing anything good.

The CGI is 100% helpful Tcon. Clinton has raised billions towards great causes such as disease in Africa, and wether it's a clever ploy or not, it's a damned good thing for sure. I hate how people consider what Clinton is doing now to be politics too....it's not.. It's merely a person who has the power and name recognition to help the world putting it to use through getting those in our country who can help t actually go out and help. I think Clinton really has become a better person through getting away from central politics and shifting towards the more charitable spectrum, and IMO this showed by his appearance on The Daily Show; he was very honest in his answers and seemed much more real than in his earlier political days, and quite frankly I think what he's doing is excellent for our world.

what about that concrete border fence they are trying to get passed for bushwhack to sign? I mean seriously a fence is not going to stop illegals from coming in. They build tunnels to smuggle tons of drugs, what is a border going to? Come on, if you want results, shoot people on sight to death and it'll send a clear message to everyone trying to get over.

Like hell you will. I work WAY too hard to earn what I do. Maybe if people were not so lazy and actually went out and worked hard - every moment of every day they would get somewhere. There are really few situations where these types of people cannot get jobs. And in most cases, its probably because they once had one and lost one and have to start over and refuse to do that. Well, life comes at you fast. Make the most of it.

Rant over. Sorry...American workers (alot of them, but not all) really set me off. I work with 300 bumbling idiots every day.

This is a general politics thread, so of course you can talk about Iraq, Israel, India, China, or wherever else you feel inclined to talk about.

yeah, but look at the bright sie, with my policy YOU wouldn't HAVE to work, you could quit your job and still make the same amount of money, while you do whateve the heck you want. cool , huh?
seriously though, there's usually only one reason people don't work, and it's seldom because they "can't" it's because they don't feeeeeeel like it.
