I was just wondering what all of you think about Wicked Twister at CP. I know a lot of people say great things about it, but then there are A LOT of people who dont like it. Personally, when i rode it, i thought the ride was fantastic and a great experiance, and i dont really get why other people hate it so much. Anyways, i just dont really think it gets the credit it deserves. So what do all of you think about WT?

Its a good ride, just sometimes it seems to have its off days and all a sudden it isn't as fun as it should be.

Well, when I rode it in 2004, it was awesome! The boost is very powerful, the twisitng is very unique, and there was even some nice floater airtime. It is an excellent addition to CP.

In 2003 and 2004 it was awesome, but in 2005 they stopped launching it backwards after going up the forward spike the first time because of 'overheating problems'. Now it's still good, but not great. I like Superman: Ultimate Escape better now.

I went in may 06 and it was launching fine, backwards and forwards, which was an awesome ride...but i never went in 05, so i dont know about that.

Why do people like this so much- if it was because of the stop on the back tower the second time they stoped doing that.

WT's the only impulse I've ever been on, so I can't compare amongst them. However, I find the ride itself to be a bit of a hidden gem. In the mornings, the line is nearly nil, and one can get three rides in nearly any seat without waiting a minute. The experience itself is a ton of fun. It is by no stretch of the imagination an amazing ride (especially with Millennium Force sitting across the park), but it does deliver great wads of airtime and a mildly forceful launch. In my opinion, it does not get nearly the attention a ride of its fun quotient should. Oh well, the more for me!

Ah I've forgotten! It also has a noise you can't beat, one of my most favorite noises of CP. (Launching in: three two one Skreeeee!)

Not only in the mornings, but i went mid day in may and didnt even need to stop walking before getting on the ride! Actually, on the whole trip, there wasnt really a line at all for it.

I accually enjoy it. It's a fun experience. It is just the bad part that my Mother has had many surgury's and the backwards is an awful experience for her.

The only impulse coaster I've been on is Steel Venom at Valleyfair, but the best part of that ride for me is the sense of freefall that you get on the back tower. I don't think that it would be as fun if you're spinning the whole way up and down. Also, it's really fun when the train stops at the top of the back spike the second time up, something Wicked Twister doesn't do.

Wicked Twister... Launches are weak as hell. The 2nd blast was just like the first witch wasnt that great. They barly launch you going backwards witch is the best part of the ride. and the backward twist was. "Umm yeah ok...." So it is not a very good ride. Just a ride to take up alot of space. It also has alot of rust on it too....

The first 2 months it was open were the best. It went up the back spike all the way twice. All the launches were a few mph faster and it ran much more intense.

Once they discovered the spikes were sustaining small fractures, they toned it down, added those supports and reopened it. Its still a fun ride, but not like it was when it opened.

Topdrag - I think you maybe havent ridden it? It takes up about as little space as you can. And its got virtually no rust. Maybe you think of...I dont know. sounds like you are coming up with reasons to hate on it. Ive been taking pictures of it for weeks and noticed no rust on the track other than completely normal wear and tear.

Well...i just got back from a trip to CP from the 7th-9th, and WT was the first thing i rode. It definately wasn't the same as the last time i rode it. The forward launches felt a bit weaker, but the ride is still a ton of fun! Just not quite as good as i remember.

It's good for what it's meant to be, but nothing more. I'd rather ride something like Magnum or Gemini over it anyday.

Real, Get on and ride it. Its on the car were the seats connect to the main carriage of the train. I have ridden it and didn't care for it. A break hold would have been way better for it. Though i know Cedar Fair hates to clone there rides it would have been a good idea to do it to WT but just make it faster and taller. Its also a good idea not to say weather or not someone has ridden a coaster unless you have prof.

I was there a couple weeks ago, didnt notice any on the back car.

Im not sure how rust makes a coaster bad or - gasp - not fun to ride. All woodies have rust. Most all steel coasters have rust. You cant rustproof a coaster and you CANT repaint it every week.

I was bringing it up to your attention because its a really, really lame thing to note on a roller coaster. Considering that all roller coasters have some form of metal on them and it most likly ends up rusting over its first year.

Plus bear in mind the ride sits RIGHT on the lake with no protection and any wind hitting it is the worst winds on the lake - nor'easters coming from the north. That might have something to do with it as well.

And Ive ridden it more times than I can count. Ill be riding it again Saturday as well.

EDIT - Heres coasters with real rust:

Luckily both of those have gotten repainted.

WT is an awesome ride. Wee vertical spinny rolls.

I'm not a huge fan of the impulses but I love Wicked Twister. Like every other coaster, what makes the ride is where you sit. My favorite seat is 8:1:R. (last car:front row:right side) Here, while the train is spiralling up the back spike, you see past the car in front of you as it shifts to the left. Suddenly you're looking straight down on the beach from 180ft in the air. Great feeling.

Honestly I don't see why people look for airtime on inverts. It's just not part of the genre.

Yea, but still...air on inverts is still a cool bonus!

Inverts with airtime:
(not counting inversions)

Katun
Raptor
Dueling Dragons
Talon

Its part of more than you think. The SLC's have it too on that banked turn before the Immelman.
