PC Stands for Personal Computer so I don't see how a MAC is not a PC?

both. In reality, I'd say one is really not better than the other. Just each fit to your needs differently. If you wanted a computer where you can pretty much do endless ammounts of things like gaming, and photoshop, maybe just sending some emails to your buddies, and typing something up in word, I'd say go with PC.

But if you are a more advanced user who is only getting a computer simply for work and nothing else, I'd reccommend Mac. Pretty much all professional software is developed for Mac, and along with the Mac operating systems, constantly scanning for Adware and Viruses is not as much of a requirement as it is on a PC. But you have to remember that Macs are very pricey, and for the most part you can't build a custom mac like you can a PC. You pretty much have to buy a brand new one every time you would like to upgrade.

lol thats true. But now PC has come to mean any personal computer but a Mac. Also, Apple does not consider Macs to be personal computers. Just thought I'd point that out.

Also: Matt, PCs are better tuned for proffessional work. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Outlook are all better than the Mac versions, especially word. Macs are better for maximum media management. The only thing about that is...iTunes is available for Windows!

EDIT: btw, just wondering: who put other?

Aww, Im the only Mac user that voted. I feel lonely[flush] I like my mac because, imo, its more organized. I just wish more programs were made for macs, like a simple 3d program, that would be cool.

a mate of mine got a new mac ibook and it looks really good. And they don't get viruses/spyware/adware so much. but I just couldn't face not having tools for NL! I'd be well lost!

Yay, another mac user. I love macs, barely any viruses and never really crashes is great. Only problem is the fact that you can only really get advanced free 3D modelling programs as stated above. Also it's annoying having no NL tools. The tracks end up crap. But other than that I like them more because they feel faster than PC's (well, the later ones do) and they tend to get the job done withought suddenly deleting a save for no apparant reason. Mac OSX Tiger is sweet. Dunno how I lived withought widgets before I installed it.

IMO the reason Macs dont get as much viruses, spyware, etc. They dont have the same volume of hackers working against them as Microsoft has.

But I'll stick with my Windows based PC for now, besides when have you ever heard of a "Mac Gamer" (yes I know they have games for mac, but in my eyes they don't. Pretty sure it was trying to play Quake 3 on a Mac with ONE mouse button and the mouse design absolutly sucked. It just didn't fly for me.)

I also use PC because of the upgrades, games, and the fact that I'm not the type using the comp only for work. Many games work better on PC than on consoles too. (primarily strategy games and fps's)

^ever heard of Linux? just one of many that would fall into the category of "Other"

wow this poll is dumb. it should've been about which OS you prefer since the computers it refers to all run the same hardware. I really wish there was a no preference category.

I pity you.

and just for the record, a Mac with an intel processor can run Windows, so yea... no more complaining about the lack of availability.
