I like it. Of course, my pet peeve is the making out in line.
I am the one parent who while in line who will look right into the eyes of a teenage boy and tell them to: "Have some respect for their girlfriend and stop trying to dry hump them in line. You look like an ass, and are disrespecting not only everyone here -- but also making the girl they "care so much about" look like a cheap whore."
I have said that three times so far, and believe me, those idiots remember me for the rest of the day and there is not a repeat incident. Everytime after I have said it they get wide-eyed and the response has always been, "I'm sorry, sir." What gets me though ... is the look the girl gives me. It is almost an unspoken "thank you" for being man enough to realize that the queue is not the place for the punk she is with to degrade her.
Bring on the rules -- make them stronger -- those who are respectful in parks and act right all along will NOT suffer from these changes.
Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.
I still think the chances of SF enforcing these new regulations (not much unlike the old ones, are they?) are pretty slim. But I'll still be optimistic about changes to the chain. Hopefully this will help bring in a little more revenue.
tj, that's really funny, especially since I would never even consider making out with my ladyfriend in a queue line. That kind of behavior definitely calls for the good old "Get a room!"
tiny sunglasses ,mullet or shaven head, no sleeves on shirt, possible goatee and visor/ballcap, oversized jacked up pick-up with flame shaped grill and several"support... .." yellow ribbon magnets on the back..?.. DUDE i've seen the guy.. i have to tolerate those people all day long.. a day without them would be an incentive to drive up there for me.
As said, if they give incentives, itll get enforced. If you told me if I reported X amount of stuff and got a raise, or a bonus, you KNOW Id be looking as hard as I could.
yeah, but that could also turn little punkass sweeper guys into power tripping morons. they'd act like meter maids and fight amongst themselves over who gets to report something. i had a bad experience with security at M.M. simply because the girls decided they wanted to go out to the car for food at 11:00 A.M. we spent a half an hour out there while they were searching my freinds mini... i vote against the incentive thing, they should ALL report stuff or lose thier job if caught ignoring it,and be harshly reprimanded for reporting overly petty, or non exsistent transgressions. not get rewarded for being tattle-tales...
So now they plan to control the guests a little better. But what about the most important aspects? IE having efficient staff that will do the job right in the first place? This is all good stuff, but I doubt any of these will be in fact for most of the SF parks for more then a month.
I donno about the incentives thing, while it would be nice, it would eventually create a witch hunt to find someone in the wrong.
Whenever I had to man the freeway entrance on Raptor I usually spent most the time looking for line jumpers, unfortunatly I usually had to call security for them of leave. But catching smokers and people sitting on the hand rails was definatly the most fun and fullfilling. Mostly because the punk-ass kids would sit up there, and all I would have to do is make eye contact and point down toward the ground until they catch the drift.
But overall some of us lived to catch line jumpers and some just didn't really care. It was pretty hit and miss, but mostly security did a good job of catching them.
Fortunately most of the coasters at CP have very small sections where loose articles can be flung at the guests or other employees, Raptor was by far the worst about this though. The first drop could fling objects to the main midway, people go hit with coins from time to time. Shoes and other objects would land in the antique cars area many times over throughout a day. But one day we dodged a lawsuit in the making when a cell phone fell out and landed in the middle of a table at the pizza place near the zero g roll. That could have been a mess.
But on the side of guest conciously being stupid, Demon Drop we occasionally checked to see if they had anything in their hands, especially if they looked like the type. (Punk ass kids)
Also on Blue Streak many decided to spit, yes SPIT!, off to the side where that path to the enterance is at. Spitting in public on the ground, in a cup, anywhere is disgusting and disrespectful.
I think its great that SF if going to do this.
I live with in 15 minutes of Magic Mountain and I have seen the park go to crap.A bunch of kids thinking there hard ass being rude and causing problems. Trashing the bathrooms, graffiti on the walls and on the rides.Trash thrown all over. And yes, cutting in lines.
So I think its great. Disneyland and knotts Berry Farm dont seem to have the problems that Magic Mountain has. Dosnt Disney have that strict Guest code?
disney doesn't have a guest code I seen a hobo in there once, I swear it was a hobo, didn't have cam or anything but it looked like a hobo and worst off it smelled like one!

and you had to stand behind him for the longest line there?
SFF -- I would be curious as to how other crews in the park would feel about this stuff. Can you pass it around? I think we can all admit that most folks act right in the park -- but then are some that ... wow. Words just do not fully describe the impact.
Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.
Blimey I never knew thay had a complete smoking ban, does that mean there aren't even smoking areas? I mean Im not a big fan of smoking in queues due to the close proximity of so many other people making me all self concious, and I'd support anywhere banning that, but the smell of cigarettes like one big outdoor pub is something I always remember a day at Alton Towers or PBB by. I can just imagine them selling nicotine gum at the gates.
