im not a television fan, and i really don't know much about letterman...

Letterman is the man (and a fellow Hoosier)! I need to watch the Late Show more often.

Well .... Dave never actually answered the question. What he did was spout off several different sound bytes he has heard from a variety of Liberals and try to make it sound like he was speaking intelligently. It was a "yes" or "no" question. I watched that entire episode when O'Reilly was on there ... shame that Dave will not go on Bill's show where the roles can be reversed and he can be reminded that he has STILL not answered the question without being muted or cut into commercial. It does not matter though, they both will still have cushy jobs regardless of the outcome in the Middle East.

what is "win" ... without an explaination neither yes or no are answers. it was a manipulative question that he asked so that he could control the conversation...like cops are trained to. letterman can't say "no" but he hasn't got enough information to know WTF orielly means by "win" (i doubt if oriely does either..)...it's not a yes or no question, like whether or not you want your football to "win" by scoring more points than the other team. if he answered either way he'd be a jackass to do so.

Touche ... the question still remains, which tells me that Dave does not have a side that he supports; probably for fear of alienating some left or right wing group that will send him boycott letters.

Either way, I thought Letterman did a good job responding to the question, even if he didn't answer "the question." Though technically, we already won the war with Iraq. Now what we are doing is trying to stabilize Iraq so that way they can take over. This isn't a "war" that we're fighting now, its more of a peacekeeping force with occassional raids here and there, but we cannot win the "war", only the Iraqi's can do that now.

Can Dave really take sides? His job is to poke at the satire of everything going on in the country and around the world be it from the left or the right. Props to him for getting his audience to chear his insult to Bill.

ANSWER THE QUESTION>>> YES OR NO?....... ha.. just kidding c.b. you nailed it... oriely will not get an instant one word response to that question from someone who actually thinks about it, and he knows it, and twists(or SPINS it) into being indecisive ... like i said, it was a loaded question... a no answer = oooohh... you hate america and you want us to LOSE.. a yes answer would be resonded to with something like "then why do you disagree with (insert disasterous policy here) if you want us to win you'll let the president do "what needs to be done" and quit being critical." he could've asked "do you want us to lose" and he would have gotten a one word answer. "winning " is not the only alternative to losing...
what is the goal.. "enter iraq with force,and disband their army so we can find and destroy their stock piles of wmds...?" oh.. wait..nevermind ummm how about.. "remove the brutal dictator of iraq?"... answer.. hell yes.. oh wait.. then we already "won" game's over lets go home..... hmmmm. i guess that wont work either....
that's orielly's style.. he makes sure to ask questions that don't have a "yes or no " answer and demands one, and uses it to show his audience (the choir) how "idiotic" thinking people are... i've heard hannity do the same thing...
