The Mrs and I went and saw Rocky Balboa tonight. That was truly, the BEST movie in the series and a proper way to "end the story". As info, I shall be throwing away my copy of Rocky V and replacing it with this one when it comes out on DVD - it was THAT good and how I would want to remember the story; versus that piece of garbage they tried to pass off to all of us in Rocky V. It shows all kinds of respect to the history of the entire series and perfectly (in my opinion) ties it all together.

If you have not seen it and are ANY kind of fan of the Rocky series or of Sly, you MUST see this movie. Couple of "three letter word" uses, but of course, nothing profane uttered from the Rocky character (as there has never been).

Anyway, just thought I would give my opinion of it for you guys.

my point of view as a boxer al rocky movies s*ck because there is no technic at all. They are just punching around and not taking any cover.(don't know if thats the case in the new rocky i hope that this time they fight like real boxers)
my favorite boxing movies are: million dollar baby and Ali

Is it another typical predictable movie? Gets beaten up badly, and then in the last round turns into superman and wins that match?

I heard it was crap and pointless. Everyone has their own opinion.

Actually, no -- and it really is not about a "fight".

True enough ... then again, for anyone born AFTER 1985 I would honestly not expect much more of a response. While these movies are considered 'very bleh' by today's standards (that is, no one gets blown up or tortured), they were (and are) a very iconic part of most who spent their childhood's in the 70s and early 80s.

I saw it and i thought it was great! it has some older styl moral character where rocky feels out of place in the new society built up around him. He's old school and it would have been funny to hear G.W. duke say "Rocky Balboa"
again. LMAO. i had to watch the first five all over again... just for novelty sake.

That was a good movie, though I was not impressed with Mason. I think they could have upped his character more and made it more thrilling. It also would have been cool if he had taken out the guy at the bar. [:)]

I saw it on opening night as well. I have seen all the Rocky movies and this one is by far the best one. Its the most realistic in terms of the fight (different ending then most people are expecting) and really provides a connection to the character as both a role-model and as an all around good guy. Great movie...now I only hope that the movie "300" is going to be as good as this movie was,.
