Most of you that use NoLimits are familiar with the Gravimetric Studios Object Creator.

I have tried here and there, tampering with some vertexes, but I have never really given the GSOC a chance.

Just yesterday, I've started making a giant X formation to be an inclusion for my new Euro-Fighter "Silver X", which by the way will not be here anytime soon. I have the X all layed out how I want it to look, but you cannot see the inner corners of it. It is as though the X is there, but there is a flat square right in the middle of it (top and bottom) that goes over part of the X. No matter how big I make it, those cover-ups always get big with it. I need to make those "flat squares" go away! Anybody have any ideas.

P.S. Becuase I am not able to take screenshots while I am working in a file program, I cannot show you what I am experiencing, I can only tell you with my best description and hope somebody catches on...I apologize for any hassle the inability of a screenshot causes.

so you are getting a big square instead of an x-shape?

that's because the OC doesn't allow single brushes with 'inside' corners,
don't ask me why, it's just so. The best way to make an X is with 2 brushes, rectangles, which intersect.

Oh I see. Thanks a lot hyyyper!

I have made the X, but now I have another problem. I have been trying to import my own custom object textures by saving some files into the object textures file and hoping to be able to use them in the creator editor. But I can't get them to appear correctly in the file. How do I make my own custom object textures and import them into the OCTextures file?

Hmm...alright.

What editor program would you recommend I use to make some customs? Paint or something?

I need to make the big X silver, so I'm opening paint, making the whole page gray, and then saving it as a JPEG file (which says includes JPG). I save it to the ObjectTextures file, and I can see it there, but when I open up the OC Program, the silver texture is not on the selection bar...I'm doing something wrong, and I need help figuring it out.

By the way, I'm using the paint program for the customizing.

With Paint, I don't believe there is a way to choose dimensions like Hyyyper has mentioned. You have to save the grey picture, then open it in any other picture editing program, and then crop it to any of the dimensions he mentioned. After doing so, save it into the texture folder and then you should be alright.

Hmm, I understand what you're saying. Could I use the Microsoft Office Picture Manager for that? Or how about IrfanView?

So, it basically has to be a perfect square when I save it to the OCTextures file?

I just use the picture manager. It displays the dimensions as you use the crop feature.

No, it just have to have some combination of the dimensions hyyyper mentioned, such as 256 x 512 for example.

Ughhh. I apologize if I'm getting bothersome about this, but when I try to modify the size by itself, everytime I change width or length, it changes the other one automatically to stay in proportion I'm assuming.

How do I stop this?

tell you what.... if you don't want to run into this problem EVER again, and you can deal with having a *.3DS file.... go download a program called gmax. it's free, and it's basically a version of 3DS Max for people who can't afford to buy the real thing (no offense intended - I use it lol) Anyway, you can make your X shape in there using splines combined with the extrude function - same way you'd make a tunnel for Halo. cap the ends of the extrusion, and you've got an X. Apply a texture or diffuse color to the outside and export as a *.3DS file. if you need more info - post something or other and I'll talk you through it...

Alright, I'll go see about it.

I was searching GMax on Google, but I got some strange results. Could you give me a URL to follow so I can get to the correct page?

And also, what do you mean make a tunnel for Halo?

Oopsies... my bad.... gmax cannot EXPORT 3ds... it can import. you might be able to find a plugin for it, like I use the Chimp plugin to export to JMS... anyway, it's definitely worth looking into... URL.... www.turbosquid.com/gmax
it's really powerful software, actually... Anyway, look for a 3ds exporter plugin for gmax. it should have an extension *.ms...

As for halo, gmax can be used to make custom maps, buildings, and weapon models for halo...

back on the texture thing,

paint CAN resize, there are blue points on the edges and corners of the drawing flied, drag them to resize. If you want to crop and not cut, use the 'select all' function first, drag, then deselect and get rid of the white fields just created by the cropping by dragging the blue nodes

Yeah, but paint doesn't give you any numbers so how will we know the dimensions.

When you are dragging the blue point, wether you're resizing or cutting, in the right bottom of the screen the dimensions will appear

Alright, thanks hyyyper.

Although, I Unzipped the object creator file with the WinZip DEMO, so I have to actually purchase WinZip so that I can use as many brushes as I want (this is will delay my Silver X project for about a week, becuase I won't have the money to get 11.0 for a while)

With MS Paint click Image->Attributes, you can see the size and modify it, as with the 3DS problem, I found a program called RheinGold3D. It costs money, but if you download the demo it comes with a free file converter, it doesn't support a lot but it supports some big file types (3DS, Maya ?????????).
Link: http://www.tb-software.com/download_1.html

By the way if you download and install the program, the free program is called 3DWin5 V 5.6. It is only included with RheinGold3D.

I understand, but I have heard WinZip to be the most trustworthy, reliable, and sufficient program for zipping, unzipping, and compressing files all together. I need to purchase it for downloading tracks like Primal Scream and Too Many Cooks. Also, I need it for properly unzipping the entire version of ObjectCreator, which I need for my new project, Silver X, becuase SX will have multiple 3Ds (in which I have been working on for quite some time now, and I'm impressed that I have finally come to know the program and how to use it even!)

What does Winzip have to do with how many brushes you can use in the OC?

You could always download winrar. It's free, extract zip files and the rar format is said to be bether than .zip.

Well, you see, I only downloaded the demo version of WinZip. Just the other day, while trying to add a brush to my grid, I got a brush-limit warning becuase I unzipped the GSOC file with the demo and it wasn't fully unzipped. I need to purchase the full WinZip program to fully and properly unzip GSOC.

(Gravimetric Studios Object Creator is a WinZip file)

If someone has a free way to unzip files such as WinZip files (GSOC), please tell me, because my father won't let me get WinZip, and I NEED to make 3Ds for my two current projects...

[EDIT]- thank you Nosferatu.

[EDIT]- WinRar does in fact cost money. The free interfaces are either graphics only or trials...(http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) Notify me if I'm not using the correct site.

Um, the Object Creator available isn't the full version. You are only limited to 10 (I think?) brushes no matter what. At this time the full version is not available for purchase.

Oh...well, that would explain it. So what should I do from here? Just spread out the brushes in different files?
