I'm leaving college till September but I keep needing reassurance to tell me i'm doing the right thing. I'm leaving cause, im doing law and psychology and I hate law. I will fail. And I don't wanna go into law at all, so no point taking the exam for people to look at and see a fail. I want to go back in september and take subjects I actually enjoy. Im going to re take psychology, and take sociology and photography. Photography purely because I'd love it. I want to go into something like psychotherapy or something along those lines and I've been told sociology fits in with pyschology for that. In the mean time I will be doing more hours at work until september. Please tell me that makes sense and I'm not an idiot. My mum doesn't agree with it so I feel bad, but please help and tell me what you think!!! Thanks :) xx

Doing something you like to do in life is always better then something you hate doing. I'm in the same boat as you, only I have a rigid commitment to complete what I start....no matter how much I hate it (plus its gonna save me $40,000). Your not an idiot, just tell her that you don't want to get into law. Its your life make it the way you want it.

Well, going to college and actually trying to get advanced education means you're making a better choice than over half the world's population that decide to stop school after high school or before it. So, you're on the right track!

And I agree completey with Pernicious! You need to make sure that your life turns out the way you want it, and if you turn out being a lawyer, and you hate it, then what good are you doing society? But if you love your job, either being a psychologist or a photographer (I can't exactly understand which one you actually want to be), and you love that job, then you're doing your part for this world!

You should go for whatever you want. Sometimes that means taking a year of, working, getting to think things through. Not let others decide or force you to anythine else. Remember, this is what you are going to spend the rest of your life doing, so you bether be sure.

I am taking an extra year, in order to get in to the university I want, which is pretty hard to get into. It take me an extra year, but in stead of starting at some thing I may want to, I rather use one year and become what I realy want. And we're young, so what is one year, or six months anyways?

So yeah, I think your doing the right thing, if that is what you want.[:)]

corse your making a good decition rach, its your life not your mothers and if you dont like a subject you never will. you need a line of education which will give you a job that you will enjoy and prosper. this is one of those things that needs to be a selfish decition plus it will give a great break from college and really hard work. lots of people are doing law and its a very hard carrer to get into aswell. yes you will feel bad for a while and yes your mum wont be happy for a while but it will all pass. it will give you more time to do other things in 6 months like go on hols and out partying[:D]. you are doing the right thing because remember this is your decition and nobody else's

Plus youll have a better chance of making more within a field you love than a field in which you hate.

Im struggling with this right now but Ill always choose what I enjoy - reguardless the pay - over something I hate.
