So yeah, I got around to purchasing Half Life 2 the other day and I was wondering who played it around here.

Basically I'm looking for anyone that wants to play an online death match. [:D]

Total sweetness! It is the greatest FPS ever made, if not greatest game overall. The game is just so advanced in storyline, physics, and enviroment interaction... You're in for the ride of your life.

Ya know I'm gonna go play it RIGHT now, for the first time in a year.

Better late than never. Have fun with the game. It quite possibly my favorite Single Player experience in a game.

I don't play Deathmatch hardly at all, but its fun to hop on it everyonce in a while. If you got x-fire my name is fsfgrimes

Aah Crap. I'm so angry at Valve at this moment. When they converted Half-Life 2 for the Xbox they took out all multiplayer support (No split, no Xbox live, no direct link).

This is definitely the most exiting FPS ever. The interaction between you and the levels is just amazing.
Have you finished the game already?

I started replaying it recently. But it's one of my favorite FPS's of all time. However, some of the driving parts, like the air boat, felt too dragged out. But that's just my opinion.

This is the reason I wanted to get HL2, because of the multiplayer and link modes, but I was really pissed when they hadn't adjusted it to an XBox Live disc. Dispite the inability to play Live, it is a really great game. It doesn't have a cheesy story like most games you see. It still doesn't beat Halo, though [;)]

Halo is fun when you drank a few beers and want to show off to your friends how covenant blood looks like when it's splattered all over the place and here them scream at a high pitched voice: Demon!!!, They got Elite!!! And Oh oh!!!

Half life 2 on the other hand really means business. The Graphics are excellent. The game?????????s dynamics is unmatchable. The story flows properly with the game and just face it, it is a better story, maybe not as major as Halo?????????s but better.

I think I may reinstall it on my new comp, I always used to play it (Usually just CSS though rather than HL2/DM), haven't played in a few months but I might start playing again. If I do Ill let you know so I can destroy your life at CSS. [:p]

I think Half-life/2 both had a larger effect on FPS games overall. While Halo showed that FPS can be done and enjoyed on consoles with good controls. They are both great games but HL jumps way ahead due to multiplayer. Yeah the xbox could have done some simple multiplayer but I don't think it would have been that great. I think they were just testing the waters to see if consoles were accepting of the game. Besides they are coming out with a pack once Ep2 gets finished that plays on the 360.

Episode 1 though.... a quote from a review sums it up. "Episode 1 is the necessary bridge between HL2 and the rest of the episodes." Yeah it was a rock solid well designed game, its just no big plot points were revealed other then at the very end.

Nope. I have only gotten as far as the 'Ravenholhm' level. I would probably be further but I have been playing nothing by multiplayer for the last few days.

Excellent Screen. Nice. [approve] I am seriously getting into this game. Very exciting, and one of the greatest gameplay formats I've witnessed.

It still amazes me at how some levels never really get stale. While there isn't quite as much of a rush from before there are still some really exciting moments.

From what you guys are saying, it sounds pretty awesome. I've personally never played, but want to now! Do you purchase it online like NL or buy it as a CD?

You can do it both ways I think. You could buy it online via Steam (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php ... =220&cc=US) or you could goto WalMart like me. [lol]

Yeah you can even buy it in a store and then download it online to install it if you like. I havn't touched the CDs since the first time I installed it. Try the demo out though. I think its part of the Ravenholm level.
