Now yes I think it will be a bad year for this amusement park. Why? Well some news around that they have demilished (or at least moved to a different amusemnet) some of there top rides. Well the three rides they have demolished were X-Flight (The popular Vekenoma coaster there), Steel Venom (The kinda popular iverted impulse), and the monorail. The monorail wasn't really good anyway.
I just hope if they are demilishing and obviously (I think) is getting money from this. I really hope since this is now a Cedar Fair L.P. park, that they will do many improvements, such as:
1. Maybe get a really good coaster or ride.
2. Just make something to attract more attention.
The reason I said "make something to attract more attention", is because last year, there is barley anyone there. None of their rides are special, now including 2 popular coaster gone. IMO, they should have taken away Headspin. Headspin isn't popular and is bumpy.
I also am concerend about the park is because it is filty dirty. The place is deserted. There is no really "nice" atmosphere either.
I just hope this park does something good for them, as though they may not stay for long.

So what do you guys think of this?
P.S., if you read my whole paragraph, you get a cookie! [:D]

^Yes. I knew they were going to put it in Paramouts. That is kinda good though becuase I live only 3 hours away from them! =) Yea I have no idea what they will do with Steel Venom.
I wonder if this park will even last another year!

Indeed, I do expect more from Cedar Fair L.P. Geauga lake was one of the bigger Six Flags, now owned by Cedar Point of course, and they are probably trying to spread out the coasters to spread out the other park's revenue more.

Eh, GL still has one of the best woodies in the nation with The Villain, a great classic woodie in the Big Dipper, the best floorless in the country in The Dominator, a solid SLC in Thuderhawk, another solid woodie in Raging Wolf Bobs, and then nice smaller attractions to go along with them. I think they'll be just fine and trust me Cedar Fair WILL add a new attraction in the near future too, they have a tendencey to build immediately after destroying. (Same happened at CP most recently)

I would figure by next season that they will build something to replace the rides. One could easily build a large flat ride in the place of Steel Venom. And X-flight was sitting on a prime piece of real estate. Almost anything can go in there. The only thing holding them back is the height restriction against them.

Well you do have a point. BUT
1. I like the Villian, but it is so bumpy you won't want to ride it again becuase you have a headache when you get off it.
2. Well there is nothing really to add to Dominator, I love the ride.
3. Well I think Thunderhawk is very bumpy too.
4. I also love Raging Wolf Bobs.

Although another thing I thought about was on this one, very hot day we went on the River Rapids. You don't even get wet! The waterfalls weren't even turned on like they always were.
Also, the needle, or skytower, is as hot as hell in the summer.
I think they need like a ride such as maxair or something different.

The Villain was just poorly maintained for a few years. It would probably run much better if they had PTCs on there too.

I've gotta agree on the Villain being horribly maintained. When I first rode it in 2004, it became one of my favorite wood coasters. When I rode it in 2006, I couldn't ride it more than once because it was so rough. And this is coming from someone who regularly rides the back of Mean Streak, and once rode The Beast 7 times in a row with minimal side effects, so trust me, The Villain has become virtually un-ridable due to the poor maintenance.

Never been to Geauga Lake, and honestly, nothing motivates me to go. I have heard countless times (after this thread, countless plus three) that The Villain was good back in the beginning of the millennium but seemed kind of forgot about after 2003-ish. Dominator has one element that entitles interest to me, and that's the turn after the first loop...seriously, what's the fuss? [lol]

Well, thats whats happens to the majority of CF woodies. They are poorly maintained and become quite rough over a span of a few years. Let's hope they smarten up with Renegade, what a shame to see another likely awesome woodie to become neglected.

You guys arn't giving enough credit to Raging Wolf Bobs and Big Dipper.
Raging Wolf Bobs is a pretty fun old woodie and Big Dipper has some crazy ejector seat moments.

What are you talking about? The best floorless in the nation is Kraken at SWO.

Could be argued either way really. I suppose you've got a pont though, so make it the SECOND best floorless in the country. [:p]

^Is Kraken really a good roller coaster? I'll be in the Orlando area in just a few weeks, and it wouldn't hurt to go out of our way for a good coaster [;)] Unfortunately, last time I went to Florida for a Sarisota trip, I missed a visit to Sea World by a few hours and would've been able to hit Kraken. Always heard it was good though. [;)]

Yeah, I am looking forward to Renegade above many 2007 designs this year. Including Maverick! I can't see any source of distraction, as Valleyfair doesn't have many roller coasters. It'd be a disappointment to witness Renny fall back.

I have a feeling the they are going to scrap Steel Venom. The ride was falling appart, some of the seat cushions are held on be duct tape. I was on ot last season and my seat broke on me, every time we went up a tower me seat fell futher and further. They then closed the ride for an hour reopened it with the seat I was in strapped off.

Kraken is definitely worth going out of the way for. It's been at least 5 years since I was there, but I still remember it being an amazing ride. The trench/tunnel finale is great, and it's very re-ridable.
And coasterdave, are you saying they might scrap Steel Venom at VF? Why would they do that, it's one of the best rides there.

^He's most likely referring to Geauga's Steel Venom, as this is in fact a Geauga Lake related thread, and Valleyfair's Steel Venom will only be four years old this year. Also, VFair's doesn't have any falling apart seats, and I don't recall any seat related damages in its lifetime. Only flaws with VFairs Steel Venom is that one day last season the brakes initiated one pass early (3 times) and opening day the tower lock was about five seconds other than the regular 2 (I consider that a bonus other than a malfunction [;)])

But yeah, there was a rumor thread activated at C2K referring to the fact SV may be trashed.

Oh got it, I guess I wasn't reading very carefully, I thought Geauga Lake's SV had been dismantled already.
