You know how I said i'd probably never make another Flyer....well I lied.

This is Osprey the worlds first LAUNCHED flying coaster! get ready to launch from 0-60 in 4 secs (more grdual accel to lower pain) striaght into a giant pretzal roll where you will experience up to 5gs! (5 is okay on your back since you can safely handle 17 on your back)

This ride will be my first major themed ride and it will have an avation theme. currently i'm thinking of making the station an airplane hanger and the launch a run way. Any ideas for more scenery please let me know.

No, I will put money that it doesnt pull 6 G's. How much are you willing to wager?

Im almost 100% certain I can find the post of the guy who met Bolliger of B&M at the IAAPA and verified its not even close.

^Gerst - nice job removing your post.

The real number is only around 3.5-4. You arent at all taking into consideration the direction the forces are being applied to the body.

Infact, heres a test. If its 6G's, whatever you weight, find someone 6 times that to sit on your chest. Then, try to breathe. I can breathe decently through the pretzel loop, though I still struggle more than normal and I would doubt seriously that 1200lbs on my chest Id be breathing just as easily. My rib cage would probably be ready to crack.

6G's being applied straight on top of your chest is astronomical. Thats truely Jet Fighter territory. Rethink that number because its almost 2 times too high.

That's no valid comparison. Those 6G are being applied to the complete body and also effect the complete body. It's not like your entire weight is multiplied with 6 and then magically placed on top of your chest.
6g simply means that the forces applied throughout your body are 6 times higher than when laying down. For your chest that means that you only need to look at the chest and see how much weight is on top of the lungs. That's not much. Now multiply THAT with 5 (!) and place on top of your chest. You'll see that you won't have a problem breathing.
6g is far from being uncomfortable in this position (laying on your back), opposed to 6 vertical Gs standing or sitting.

Then I would like to add it would only reach the high gs for only oh...2 secs for that 2 secs you have that pressure on you would it really matter?

*sorry i've been slow to update the NLDC page, i'll finish supproting the Pretzal roll and get new screens up ASAP.*

2 seconds of 6g would be a bit much. 1 second would be perfectly fine though.

I still dont think its even near 5. Its such an immense amount of pressure compressing your lungs.

I agree with Real. No way those forces are that high. Consider that the 3 Vekoma flyers pull forces at the bottom parts of the loop that are similar to those found in the pretzel loop of the B&M flyers that have one. The Vekoma trains go pretty slow over the top... I've seen plenty of sitdown rides travel much faster over the top with similarly shaped loops. You can estimate those g's as being lower than 5, (infact many sitdown rides have stats that show their highest g's, and very few exceed 5 g's.) So, if you consider that Vekoma flyers are going slower over the top, there's no way they exceed the forces on those sitdowns. Since like I said, from my experience, the forces are similar between the B&M and Vekoma flyers in the spots mentioned, I wouldn't expect B&M's to be too much more forceful than Vekoma's.

So yeah, I've been on SFGAdv's and SFGAm's Superman rides probably 10-12 times total, and Batwing/X-Flight maybe 25 times total, and judging from those rides I think Real's estimation is spot on, and anything near 6 would be WAY too intense for nearly all riders (especially sustained for 2 seconds). The forces they have are already very intense, infact Batwing is one of the only decently smooth rides that will generally give me a headache after a couple laps.

Point is... don't do 6. IMO your very max value shouldn't exceed 4.5, which is possibly already too high.

According to ASTM 6g is fine for 1 second.
...and remember: this is not about existing rides, but about a new virtual ride and the theoretical possibilities.
