Well i was chatting to Mr. Slap about 2 years ago (don't ask me how this came back from my memmory) about how there's a lot of users here that don't really post in the fourms, that just come to download and rate and upload tracks..
well i was thinking, i can't think of one respected coaster designer that we haven't heard from in the fourms.
Think about it, ur that kinda person who dosn't download that many coasters like me, but u see a guy's (or girls, but i was being gerneral here, sry Princess_G) coaster, u'll go O! X_X's coaster... thats gonna be good
Maybe i don't pay much attention, but all these ppl r also know well known on the fourms, or vise versa, someone "famous" on the fourms, u go donwload their track.
[though iv notised, some of the most "famous" ppl on the fourms harly unload that much anymore, i mean, we can certainly say Gaz is famous, but harldy uploads)
((Edit: scratch that, iv just looked, u do like once a month or something, but u get what i mean))

ok.. .i have no clue what im on about, i think its time for bed here OO
If anyone can make out anything out of that, tell me :P

I vaguely remember something like this being suggested a while ago... "in order to upload, you must post on the forums first" or something like that...

By the way, you forgot Deadnsleepin and Mai of the Fire on your list of coaster ladies... despite the fact that neither of them has been on the site for months...

What about new members though, when I joined, the only post I made before I uploaded was "I entered." For new members, if they join when a contest is close to ending, they'll have to post a certain amount before they can upload, and if you think about it, it could create a huge rise in spam posts from new members because they want to get their count up to be able to upload.

Just a thought. -CP

I lost my password last June in 2006. Seems like ages ago. But I recently found it and that's why your are seeing all my rubbish tracks appearing so often like mushrooms. I do like the NL 1.6 because it helps so much in making roller coasters. I found out you can do a lot of tricks with it. Some don't work but there's always the go-back button. I'm typing this at 2:50 am in the morning. Got up and didn't know what to do. And I saw this cool topic so I decided to practice up on my typing skills and write a few lines. By the way I can type 50 wpm. When I was younger I could type 80 wpm. I once bowled a 268 with a 12 pound ball. Blaaa Blaaa I guess your getting tired of my ramblings so I'll say Adi?????????s for now.

well we could get spam posters or one post from many people but then again many of those mgiht find the forums iterestings if they never read them before and might become active. You never know. I don't know... I'll have to think about this but the idea overall is good I think.

I don't see why you would like to force any one into posting on the forums. Some people come here for the forums, other just com here for the exchange. There is prppably a reason why they isn't active in the forums already, and forcing them to post may just push them away to other sides. People come here for different reasons, and this sounds like a pretty pointless idea. Only a small portion of the members are active in the forums, and that is how it has always been, here and on all other sites.

I think that's a pretty smart Idea. This site?????????s not for logging on and just downloading all the coasters that you see with high ratings. I don't have a problem with the people that actually leave comment?????????s on the rides but doesn't post in the forms. But some people only use the site to download tracks. We don't even know they exist because only a small amount of them actually upload any rides. For example I'm the only South-African user with posts, uploads and rates.

I guess that some people are a bit to shy to actually talk.

Hm. Well, I think zan made a highly accurate point, but I suppose the reason that famous designers are uploading constantly anymore is not because they've stopped. It's because with each step they're becoming more serious and more talented on what to do, so chances are they'll take the extra long time...

I side with Nosferatu with this. We should not force users here to participate in discussion, because most times when I think back I've regretted ever becoming active in the forums (reasons more or less than obvious...) but I still do because I've made a few friends along the way, and no matter what arguments happen, they're always the ones that won't side against me. If you force people to come into the discussion topics without their own will, WWS will look like a mean site, and even worse, the forced part-takers will most likely only spam and cause trouble.

My side o' da story.

wierdly i agree with gerstlcrazy for once. this forum does sort of take pver your internet life but it shouldent br somthing you regret. i know recenly this place has been getting me down alot but its kindof worth it concidering all the new friends ive made not only on the forum but the meetups and even those who started chatting to me on msn. if you forse people its just going to cause trouble. some people wish not to speak and somtimes i dont blame them, if they wish to be a silent creator and just use the track exchange thats what its there for. i have no problem with things the way they are and an invite to the select few to join in on the discutions would work just as well, we have recently had a bit of a boom in newbies on the forums such as gerstlcrazy which are fast becoming very good members of this site. dont change a good thing. if its not broken dont fix it and so on

I love the abuse of language. Hate? Such an unbearably strong word and then to equate it with this situation. Sad.

Actually zan, if it was you, youd always have done it. I know it makes you "different" but really it doesnt. The words you write, the way they flow and the things they convey are who you are - not the justificatin of the paragraphs. I just find it slightly irritating and immature.

And even if you do or dont donate money, doesnt give you any more freedoms.

edit - forgot to right justify.

One thing I like about these forums is the questions people ask about NL sim. and the answers they receive. I think it is a good place for us to trade our methods we use when we make a track. This is a very good site to get information on how to build tracks. I remember when I first logged on about over a year ago, I learned a lot about NL from the constructive comments people gave when they look at my tracks. When I first uploaded one of my recreation coasters, Coasterdave helped me by letting me know that my coaster was too high. It was then that I learned how to see how high my track was, something very simple, but for a newcomer a little difficult. For example did you know that, in the NL simulator, the horizontal boards on the side of the wooden structure are spaced 10 feet apart? Not many people realize that. Also did you know that on real roller coasters they are spaced 6 feet apart? That 4 foot difference is what caused my recreation roller coaster to be too high. You can tell how high a real roller coaster is by just counting the horizontal 2x6's and multiplying by 6 feet. Also did you know that roller coasters get rougher with age because the laminations in the track get weaker with age and they start to sag when the train rolls over the track. The track sags between the ledgers and this causes a bumpy ride. When a coaster is new the wood is stronger and doesn't sag much and you get a smoother ride. The problem with newer coasters is that they really need more laminations in the track. Most tracks are 8 layers thick. I counted 11 layers of wood on the Mean Streak's track. That's the most I have seen on a modern roller coaster. Next time you go to an amustment park look over a roller coaster very carefully and see how it was built. Take close up pictures of the track and the station, pictures inside the station. Most people neglect taking pictures of the stations which are really the most creative part of a roller coaster. Well, that's all I have to add for now. Hope that helps.
