I'm totally straight, but I seriously don't see the problem with gay marriage. I mean, I actually don't get why anybody would have any kind of issue. It's just two people who love each other and make eachother happy, just like straight marriages...What's the problem? I don't get it.

I say that we should not focus on gay marriage right now as at all. Hell, let's not focus on it for the next 10-20 years.

Let's focus on the gay teens who've been thrown out of their homes, who've been verbally and physically attacked by both parents and fellow peers, who've been threatened by school administrators and employers. Let's help them feel the slightest bit of comfort in the conservative bubble that surrounds them.

Good points Zoo ... the problem with it is this: Those are SYMPTOMS of the real problem, which is the general ostricizing of an entire community. You can fix a symptom, but until the problem is fixed the symptoms will continue to multiply.

You would be so surprised...my friend and are both gay (not with eachother...woah) and we are involved in many religious things and very deep with worshiping God. I know how it feels to be denied by your friends because of religion and sexuality.

Many people in the gay community don't give a flip about gay marriage. It's the legal recognition that is most important to them. I think that there are a lot of people out there who want it (marriage) simply because they are told by the government and churches that they can't have it.

I don't have a problem with same sex marriage. I guess if I did, I wouldn't get a long with half the people on my block. As for the religious aspect, I know (in terms of Christianity) the bible says homosexuality is forbidden, but I also know that it says God wants us to live a happy life. If God wants us to be happy, I don't think God will care if someone wants to marry someone else of the same sex. As for my religious background, I was raised Roman Catholic, but I don't believe strictly in anything, so my views on religion and how it is incorporated with things like sexuality are not affected by a church or a book.

Just because you posted in this topic doesnt mean you're gay, so you could very well be talking about this and be straight aswell! I didnt know you were, and probably most others didn't.

Nobody answered my question before?

Did same sex marriages become law shortly after this thread started in the USA or is the situation the same?

Alton -- Three states (I believe) have adopted it as law, but I could be off on the number of total states -- but three sounds about right. Google could probably tell you more.

WWS - Yeah ... suuuuuuuuure! With your back? Right! [lol]
