My favorite dive machine, the Tower of Terror seems to reopen the upcoming Saturday and I can't wait too see what the hell they did with it. It's being tested this week so I'm probably going to go there on Sunday (Have to work Saturday).

Gold reef city did say that it will reopen last year but they ran into a problem (The problem of judging the upgrade time). So I hope they have it right this time.

The park is also busy with rethemeing there rides so i hope they themed the entrance to the tunnel a little bit better maybe added some smoke machines to make it more intimidating. Oh yeah I drove past the park a couple of days ago towards Johannesburg central and saw that they finally painted the golden loop Gold.

That is pretty cool that it is finally reopening.

Are you going to get any pictures or video for us? [:D]

I'll probably take a video cam but last time I was there, the operator?????????s didn't want me to take the camera onboard. I have taken a POV of the golden loop a few years back so it is kind of weird that they have such a big issue with it now. So if I can't take POV?????????s with a digital camera I'll do it with my cell phone but the quality is crap and your hands shake around more with a mobile.

All i know is that they have added a vertical lift instead of the normal chain lift. It has new open cars so yeah. I think the ride really became awesome [pshades]

btw, if they don't let you take the camera with you. Just sneak it on the ride. Like hiding it first and then during the lift grabbing it and press record [:)]

I don't even care about an on-ride video, the ride is so short it would only be 15 seconds long.

Some offride shots would be cool, and would make quite a good front page news story! *coughhinthintcough*

New open cars??? Crap. One of the things I really liked about it was NOT being able to see the track.

My body isn't a temple. It's an amusement park.

You can always close your eyes if you don't want to see it [:D]

Or you could respect the park and its guests, grow up a bit, and just take video from the ground. You get a better idea of the ride and it's more professional. POVs were SOOO two years ago.

I just want them to put more cars on the track to reduce queue time. Sometimes you can wait approximately 2 hours in the queue when there are only 100 people in front of you!!!
A vertical lift system will also be nice but it would increase the suspense.

About the open cars, I have to agree with minicoopertx, the coco pan shaped cars really made this ride my favorite diving coaster. When you?????????re finished with the incline it slowly creeps towards the drop until you can't see it anymore, while the chain rolls the car over the edge you can't see the tunnel you?????????re going to enter and instantly without warning whoosh and the ride is finished. That?????????s why I like the original cars.[;)]

Its always good to see a dormant ride open.
Trim breaks are your enemy, retracking/smoothing is your friend. I miss b&m floored sit downs. coaster count=39
