I haven't started one of my own projects, other than tournament coasters, in a good while. Now I am back to my own side projects, and the newest one is a GCI Woodie. I have some cool things in planning, but I don't know if all of them will be in the finished project. So far I have the first drop and a 90* turn that follows it. The 90 turn is special, but I'll show you why in the next update, which will be pretty soon hopefully. Here are a couple of pics; they don't really show too much, but next time will be more revealing.

You could be wondering why it looks like the coaster is high off the ground (if you can tell), but I'll tell you later in the next update. Please give me your comments, because I want to make this a great coaster!

Casey it looks quite good so far. The only thing I'm concerned about is the postdrop turn. It looks very cool, but, do you think you could take a birdseye of that thing? It looks a little too spread out for the speeds that a drop that small could produce...

Yeah... I'll get it up here in a little bit.

Edit: Here is the top view of that turn, Jake.

Is there a problem with it, do you think?

It is too spead out, and isn't really anything that would be considered GCI...take a look at some pov's to see their building style and transition method. I haven't seen many horizontal to horizontal radius changes on many GCI's.

Just look here on Thunderhead, as you can see the very small hill in the transition the train just passed through:

Yeah, Casey. I have to agree. If you really research the type of things GCI does and the elements they accomidate, you'll notice what's wrong with your track. It needs to be much tighter, and the movements of the track need to be more awkward yet exciting.

Also I might add, your ride looks way too tall aswell. Most GCI's are no larger than about 105 feet tall.

Yeah I know it is tall. That was one secret. I was planning on it diving off like a hill; the lift makes its way up the hill, then the 90* dives off the side.

Sorry for the double post, but I do have an update.

The one big part of the update is that I have changed the coaster from a GCI to a Gravity Group. It just made more sense as a GG instead of a GCI, so...

The other big part of the update is that I have made a lot of progress. I got the twisted section of the coaster done, now it is on to the airtime hills and the suprise awaiting you somewhere in the coaster.

Here are some pics of the twisted section:

Also, Jake and well, Jake(haha) I tightened that 90* after the drop.

Here it is:

Does it need to be tighter?

EDIT: I have a correction. It isn't going to be a GG, it is just to be a woodie.

Anyway, I will be needing testers here soon. If you would like to help, I will need about 3 or 4, just PM me your email. I don't know exactly when you'll get the coaster, but that time is coming soon.

There is a new thing in this coaster... well not really new; something like GerstlCrazy did with Lapalis, but not quite the same.

Please critique my designs, and point out flaws. I need the help.

^In that picture it looks like there is no airtime moments between all the turns. On a woodie, that is probably not a good thing. Of course its your track so maybe that is how you wanted it, but I would suggest putting in a few pops of air in the transitions.

Yeah... that was kind of the way I had it planned. The airtime is a little later in the ride. I'll show you in the next update.

I'm actually very attracted to those turns. Like Canadmos said, more airtime less turns is what's normally seen on a woodie, but hey, maybe Casey will pull those swerves off as the better choice [;)]

This project was going for more of the twists and turns. Tperiad has some nice overbanks and some nice "flat" turns pulling up to -1.2Gs.

I have finished the layout. Every thing as of now will stay the same. Here are some finished layout pics.

I know the layout is a bit spread out, but it is still a good ride, and I have a reason for it being spread out.

The next part of the project to come up is the bracing on the supports. After extra supporting is complete, the testers will receive the track and almost everything will be revealed in the last(or second to last) update. As always keep commenting.

Ok... so since my D.C. trip is next week, this is temporarily put on hold. I am sorry testers, but it will be a while longer until you get the track do to this. I apologize again.
