Trick ponies

There are alot of trick ponies out there and what do you think. Are they coasters or more of a thrill ride with track in your mind

You mean "one trick ponies," right?
I'd say that's all they are. Thrill ride with track in mind, as you put it.

true roller coasters are ones that keep you riding again and again, and not just because it's at your home park.

Uhh, you definately mean ONE trick ponies like Justin said. Ummm, I do consider them coasters. I dont really think it matters what I call them though. The point is its a machine that makes me have fun, period, who cares about the rest. DeJaVu delivers an AWESOME ride almost 2 minutes long, who cares if the circuit isnt complete, its one of my favorites.

I agree with Homie here. All coasters are coasters regardless of what they do or not.

Well i don't think they should be counted as coasters because you have full circut monsters like medusa, roar, nmr, etc which can be called coasters then you have a coaster like v2 which is just primiarly an enhanced thrill ride i think because a thrill ride tends to have repetave motion on most and this does plus it just adds to a parks coaster count. EX six flags great adventure ties cedar point with a monster of a ride. If cedar point puts in a trick pony then they have one up and not a high money loss.

Coasters.

Oblivion is a one trick pony but the successors Sheikra and Griffon not. This is still the same kind of ride.

I consider rides like V2 & Deja Vu coasters.....they have the two basic elements of a roller coasster: #1 Coaster Track and #2: Coaster Wheels

Coasters are way better then thrill rides!

right so then do you concider a disco a rollercoaster or a thrill ride?

cus i would concider it a thrill ride yet it still has coaster track and coaster wheels.

and yes vs and deja vu are rollercoasters because there longer than a thrill ride and they have more than one element to the ride.
thrill rides focus on one thrill where as a roller coaster can focus on many and they also run on a track

the only exception to this are robot arms

Yeah, at my home park, Great America in Santa Clara, we have a Disk'o Coaster called Survivor the Ride. I don't consider it a coaster, but a thrill ride on track. But on the other hand, there is a Vekoma Invertigo in the park, and I consider it a coaster. I don't think there is any type of way to decide whether an attraction is a roller coaster or thrill ride. Perhaps it's just in the mind of the beholder.
