You said steel coasters in general first. Honestly I think there. are plenty of steel trains that can handle heavy lats.

I'm sure there are. That doesn't mean most steel coaster trains would make Voyage's return run exactly comfortable, however; lapbars included.

Think about Arrows for example. The straight sections in Arrow drops create a massive jolt where straight drops on CCIs are barely noticeable. The wooden track is able to absorb just about all of that jolt, making the transition painless.

I think a lot of that has to do with the actual track shaping and not the material used.

CCIs may have a bit more of a lead into and out of a straight section than Arrows do (not by much though), but if CCIs were made from steel track, the jolts would still be way more noticeable and harsh. You can tell because when you experience airtime from a straight section on CCIs, you pop right up into the lapbar almost instantly, in a way lead ins aren't able to imitate.

The jolt would be more noticeable because you wouldn't be getting shaken around before that point. I think the inherent roughness of a woodie almost numbs you in a way to anything that would otherwise be really noticeable.

Also, entering an airtime moment is probably engineered to be more sudden than exiting, just for that ejector effect.

If the jolt isn't as noticeable on a steel coaster because you aren't being shaken around beforehand, then that's why it works better on a wooden coaster. Regardless of why the jolt is much more present on a steel coaster, it's there -- that's why I don't think designing a steel coaster similar to a wooden coaster would work out so well.

And I, being more tolerant of minor pain, have no problem with being "jolted" into my restrains.

For real dawg, all coasters must be from the dark side.

Early this morning, we had the chance to film some point-of-view footage on Maverick. This will allow you to see what it's like to ride from the front seat without actually being here.

POV video gotta be coming soon...

Not far at all. Depending on where in Cleveland you are going, it could be as close as 1/2 hour away. I live on the near west side and it is about 45 mins to the park. No matter where you are in Cleveland, it's not more than 1 to 1.5 hours away.

Oh and enjoy Cleveland. We're not NYC, Chicago, or LA but we have our good points. Cedar Point and Geauga Lake being two of them.

Wow. Looks cool. Seems pretty slow, but it's just the video makeing it seem like it. I'm sure video with people on it would make it go a little faster. Looks cool, glad they got the official video up!

I don't think it looks slow at all, but either way the video is definitely making it look slower. Cornball Express for example looks like a kiddy coaster if you watch a POV of it, but the ride is insane in real life.

Sweet, that video made the transitions look crazy fast. Actually, they probably feel that fast in real, too. I don't think it looks slower at all there, but there's no way that video does it justice. I've really gotta get out there and ride it.

You're correct; the transitions actually IMO were a little faster than in the vid.
