Mirage Invert Contest

Recently an emerging park near the Persian Gulf has asked you to build a top tier attraction for their park springing out of the sand dunes (Dubailand anyone?). They want the ride to be a top 10 ride, with something that makes it stand out, but it shouldn't be too intense. You may use any of the invert styles in NoLimits, excluding the flying style. This includes Inverted Coaster (4-seat), Inverted Coaster (2-seat), Inverted Face-to-Face Coaster, and Inverted Impulse Coaster. Victory in this contest will result in 100,000 Slappin' Points, 2nd gets 10,000, 3rd 1,000, 4th 500, and 5th 100. Good Luck!

THE RULES:

The template for this contest is VERY easy. I want to see something unique and special from the contestants. This, however, does not mean to ignore all aspects of realism. IF your ride is too crazy in my opinion, I'll take some points off in the originality category. I would like to see something in the style of the track type you pick. Also, you see my desert is flat. I want you to make my desert not flat. A combination of great terrain, enviroment, and theme may result in up to 2 bonus points for you. These will be added into your originality score.

  • Ride must be one of the coaster types listed above

  • Ride must be atleast 100ft tall, but no taller than 145ft. (30.48m and 44.2m), I'm not going to put anything to mark this, you should be competent enough to be able to read a height.

  • Ride MUST have atleast 6 inversions. An inversion is defined as any piece of track with more than 150????????? of banking.

  • Track must be a complete circut, no exceptions.
  • Ride must be longer than 3000ft, but no longer than 4500ft. (914m and 1524m)

  • Max Vertical G-force: 5 positive, -1 negative, Max Lateral G-force: +/- 1.2. No DQ's for this, but major point deductions in tech (at least .5 points). Exception, if you have a flat heartline roll it may have more that 1.2 lats.

  • Your track must be contained entirely inside of the red support boundry, tested in the editor, no exceptions. Your station is to be entirely inside of the green box, this will be tested in the editor.

  • Your lift may be no faster than 12.5mph or 20kph.

  • Tunnel intrusions are not allowed, points will be deducted. To be tested with the 1.5 tunnel of the respective track type.

  • Only one lift is allowed, no launches. A lift is defined as any section of track that is sloped upwards and propelled in some way. A launch is defined as any piece of track with transport devices that increase the speed of the train.

  • Track must pass E-Stop test. NO transports on MCBRs allowed! NO exceptions.

  • Deadline for the contest is 11:59 EST on Tuesday July 24th. Nota Bene - I will be away from July 11th to the 20th, do not fear my inbox overfilling, I have gmail after all.

  • You may send your tracks to me at JimmyYoshi@gmail.com .

  • You may also post your track on the exhcange, with the title "MIC", so I know it's for the contest. Note that you will only be allowed to submit your track through the exchange once. You may submit through e-mail as many times as you like.

Questions & Answers

If you have any questions you can post them in this topic. I will try to answer your question A.S.A.P. Your question and the answer will be posted under this header.

1. Q. Can we use wheels on a brake run, or does that classify as a launch?
A. This one is pretty much common sense, as long as the "launch" box is not checked it doesn't matter. I could realize what a launch is anyways.

2. Q. So if my train is already going like, 30 mph, can my lift go 30mph the entire way up?
A. Not anymore, since the max lift speed is 12.5mph.

3. Q.Can we move or delete the trees?
A. Yes

4. Q. Can we move the template up?
A. As long as you only move it up and not to the side.

5. Q. does the height have to be relative to the terrain ground?
A. No, I will be basing it directly off of the grid, no regard for terrain. In this way you could build an invert that is just say 60ft tall then raise it up so that the lift is above 100ft. I don't have a problem with this, just make sure your ride is awesome.

6. Q. Is there a limit to lift hill speed?
A. Yes, it's new, 12.5mph or 20kph.

7. Q. Are supports allowed outside of the boundary?
A. Yes, and scenery is as well.

8. Q. Is there a cars per train or number of trains restriction?
A. No, you can decide that.

I don't think I will participate, but you may want to clarify the launch guildlines. A realistic coaster would have one or two flat break runs which would require transport wheels. These would speed the train up and therefore would count as launches. I don't think many steel coasters today use entirely sloped breaks with only gravity to move the trains.

I've thought about it a little, and I'll be putting a cap on the speed of the lift. It'll be 12.5 mph or around 20kph. Sorry if anyone has to change their ride!

Can supports go outside the template?
