It cut her foot off?!?, wow. If that is true, I thought it would be a bigger deal than it says.

I wonder if after this incident other parks will be closing and inspecting their Intamin drop towers.

Oh great, now a kid that was interviewed on CNN mentioned seeing "that Final Destination 3 movie," and how "when you see it in real life it's just crazy."

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/21/six.fl ... index.html

My guess for what happened at this point is that right when the cars all got to the top of the tower, the cable must have snapped at some point inside the tower, maybe half-way down or so. This would mean that the cable would have been whipped out of the top of the tower as the car fell, which pretty much fits the eyewitness descriptions I've heard.
Anyway, as much as I feel sorry for this girl (who is 13 and 16 on different news sites) situations like this really bug me. Hopefully everything goes alright in surgery for her, and the media buzz dies down a little.

They are only at the top? Someones observant... The car rides up and down on the cables. The cables seem to act as a buffer and definatly to prevent you from going too high or too low - air pressure doesnt control that.

Nice of you guys to completely assume she was goofing off. If youve been on one, or looked at pictures, its fairly straight forward and impossible to goof off on unless you some how fall out.

I would not be reading into that statement of the witness Cody, what you are seeing is a proper demonstration of the successes (not) of the American school system in action.

You are asking for people to speak properly ... even here people cannot use proper grammar. Even you said:

Punctuation? Non-existant.
Spelling? Uhhhhh ...
Grammar? Yeah, right.
Quotes to quote another person being used? Nope.

The only other idiotic thing the witness could have said was, "She ain't got no legs!!" Either way, she has legs, just severed at the ankles. Morons are all around us man ... go with it.

I do feel sad towards the girl and hope that this accident won't ruin the rest of her life.

But we do live in the real world were accidents do happen. Nothing humans build is perfect. Remember: Ships that cannot sink, sink. Planes that's unable to crash, crash. Trains that can't derail, derail. And obviously the situation at hand.

I always say that anything that includes either electronic or mechanical processes will brake eventually.

Why are y'all talking about S&S towers?

Hopefully the feet can be reattached to the girls legs.

I say the parks should react to this by having a floor below your feet like coasters do. Either that or they should inspect the rides more ;)

Floor!?
No floor. My agreement is that all parks should remove floors from everything they have.

What the parks should do is to inspect the cable by hand often to check whether there are any obstructions like bumps, broken strips, etc????????? But the cause for the cable to brake is still unclear therefore nobody can judge Six Flags on there maintenance routines.

Calaway - You pick the worst pictures...

Pretty sure the cables run up the middle of the structure unlike the larger ones where they run on the corners

They do check the cables by hand i saw it on a ride show on discovery channel. My guess is that an inspector was in a hurry and did a bad job. If this is the case its the end of his job and he may be sued and who knows maybe even be jailed for doing a bad job for if he had done a good job this girl would still have her feet.

There probly done like most other things done by six flags inc, half asked.
The only good things six flags have done are remove the psyclone at mm and flashback and do great themeing at discovery knigdom. Thats why i diden't have high hopes going there.

I still don't think you get it, this accident was on an Intamin freefall, not an S&S tower.

Well I'm sorry for Galaxyland being under photographed, that's the only picture of the ride I could find! And Galaxyland has low lighting, when you go to Rock and Ride: Dance Party when the park is open til' eleven it's pitch black in the Space Shot tower room.

However, theres how many of those S&S towers out there now? Tons. You just didnt look past the obvious for you.

And yea, its not just bad luck when bad things consistantly keep happening to the same manufacturer.
